Im after some of the above.

I phoned my "very helpful and not in the slightest bit rude" Ford dealer to get hold of some.

I know I want the ones out of a 2 litre engine (Mondeo), right?

But he wanted to know year of the engine I want them from?

Many thanks

Yes, Im getting there.....

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.

I popped into my Ford dealers this afternoon, with photo in hand (thanks turbodave).

He found what I think Im after, but the part in the exploded diagram on his compuer screen looked a little bit different to the above. Im hoping its not and its just Ford's poor diagram.

The other thing that threw me off that these might not be what I'm looking for was the price, £6.91 inc VAT each. I remember reading on www.turbo-mini.co.uk that he picked them up for under £5 each.

He said these were of a '98-'00 2 litre vetec model, which was slightly more promising.

As they can't refund them as they are special order items, do I just order 4 and hope for the best?

The older Zetec ones were of a 'square' shape in the main body. These round ones are much easier to fit as the 'tang' is easilly removed then rotated round to the ideal position for mounting each individual jet.

They'll all be the same thing - maybe your Ford dealer charges more? I always used to get my ford parts from Quickco (the place that supplies Quicks Dealers. I guess you save a few quid going to them direct, but i was just lucky that quickco was nearer than my ford dealer!

snow - these cool the pistons - or rather take heat out of the piston crown. You'll find similar items on EVERY decent turbocharged production engine, including diesels.
Whilst many never see a problem when they don't use them, it's just one of those things you either want to fit or not bother with. But - consider that a stock piston only has a close-fitting (not full contact) skirt to dissipate the heat out of, you can uderstand why spraying some fluid - directly at the point where the heat is - makes for a far superior solution.

There's one more thing I dont understand when it comes to fitting them...

If you secure two oil jets with the same bolt does that not mean one of them will not sit flush with the engine block surface? ie..

thanks

Are the holes they sit on top of already in the block for the oil to shoot down? or is it all custom?

In that case, aren't you worried that you're taking oil from somewhere else that might need it?

Looks good though, I might do that when we upgrade to decent pistons in a year or so's time.

these are just a jet right?

I remember a post about jets that operate from 40psi oil press upwards.

The mounting lug was bent, so the jet does sit flush with the block. If you didn't do this obviously it wouldn't. lol
