hi guys

have fitted my supercharger now (vmax jobby) and im having problems with it cutting out when you give it abit,or sometimes itl just cust out when trotting along, when i say cut out it more like dies out,but starts up again after turning the key

i also get abit of petrol dripping out the airfilter 5mins after switching her off, although its only done it twice

its had a new needle valve fitted (one with rubber tip) and stuart has setup timing etc.

im running it on a facet red top solid state fuel pump, which ive checked to be running 3.5psi.

im pretty convinced it to do with fueling, but gimme some ideas please guys!!

cheers

oh and the fuel pump is wired to the +side of the coil, and the earth is linked to the earth by the battery terminal in the boot.

get an inertia switch in your fuel pump loom somewhere (wotn solve the problem, but a damn good idea none the less) i would suspect the needle valve/ float level/float vent, personally! at teh very least its somewhere to start looking.

alrite chaps,i found the problem! basically when wiring up the solid state pump i copied my turbo, using the +
side of the coil and an earth in the boot.

so ive stuck it on an ignition live from the fuse box and it now works.

although i need to fit a regulator as its at 4.5psi and it doesnt seem to happy sitting stationary for too long whilst running, guessing the fuel pressure is too much and filling the carb up,so a regulator like a 'filter king' will allow me to set it down to 3.5 psi and stop it, correct??

cheers

Not sure what you think you;ve achieved with the re-wiring, it's basically the same?

I'd have thought a SU could cope with 4.5psi fuel pressure? A regulator would be a good idea mind. Have you asked Stuart Gurr's advice?

no, i think the pump only worked when key was on cranking positon, drove for abit and used whatever petrol it pumped in,then cut out, starts back up and does the same thing, now its constantly running when plugged onto the fusebox on ignition, its fixed the problem so musta been that!! lol

yeah stuart said to use a regulator if pressures too much, did try using me turbo one but wasnt ideal, just need one with in/out unions rather than return and pressure like turbo one.

or your runnign the balast ignition system, and the 6-9v that they run on non-cranking, isnt man enough to run the pump. and by runnign the pump from teh fuzebox you give the pump a proper 12v.

Dan, i've got a filter king filter/regulator if you need one, it's brand new and the pressure has been adjusted to 3.5psi already.
