I think mine is about 4" from the turbo.

They work better when hottest - i have mine in my 'elbow' and have no problems. I would keep it less than 6" away for sure... On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

I've had a boss welded onto it - luckilly the elbow is made from cast steel, so welds quite easilly. You must remember to drill and tap the boss first though and position the boss over a hole in the elbow that is larger than the OD of the Lambda thread (M18??), as when welding, all the carbon is drawn out of the cast and it goes super-hard!

I've just got a boss welded on the down pipe, it certinally gets hot enough there.

I haven't got any engine management (yet). I've just got a lambda sensor meter (Green for rich and red for lean).

am i right in thinking that in thoery these will tell you when your running massively too lean and are likely to start melting things. if so then they would seem to be a bloody good investment, if not, then what do they do?
And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers! |

only a wide band sensor will tell you that, the cheapo gauges using std O2 sensors arnt any use.

That's what I use mine for. I think it's got something like 8 LEDs. As I said before green for rich and red for lean with a few yellows in the middle which indicate somwhere about right.

The thread is M18x1,5 on most lambda sensors. Same as Pinto spark plugs. Neat to use as afterburner plug, I bet they would be impressed in Miniworld vs. Minimagazine. How about some road fame for you RR session, just use another coil and run a lead from it ??? |

Just checked, my meter is a 10 LED type but I think I paid ?100 just for that. the Lambda sensor was about ?30 and who know where I got the boss from.

You said it was perfectly OK to mount the sensor at the lower elwob if you know what I mean down by the diff housing. This because at the turbo elbow it gets too hot. Which is right? :) I remember you said that Jim's was a but too near the turbo. Also, if fitted in the cast elbow, wouldn't thi obstruct flow a lot? On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

Much easier to search for information at a later date if all similarish info you need is in one thread not four. So, is this a problem for you? On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:
