So. my engine died today.
The crank spins freely, but the cambelt was buggered. So, why is the cambelt buggered?

The winner will receive a wooden dash! RHD of course!

Anyone?

I'm going to say that it was run without a cover, and a stone or some other crap got under the belt and caused damage.

snapped cam
or, cambelt was rubbing on bodywork
or, a tensioner somehow got too tight

it was a pair of tights put on as a get me home measure, however your leg hair that was left in them got tangled up in the pulley

cam tensioner?

Is this a A-series?

My guess is the belt to your 16v head was too tight and unfortuantly failed.
