what kind of car could i get with that kind of money?

ive just dug all me receipts out and my clubby stands me at about 6500 quid i say about as it is possibly a bit more. and its deffinatly not finished yet. this includes rolling road tune and postage of parts etc.

thats a scarey amount of money imo on a rusty old mini.

so whats every one else rekon theve spent on there car then?

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

count yourself fortunate its ONLY 6.5k.

i reckon mine owes me about 7k

however i have a feeling its more like 9 but i really really dont want to add it all up too accurately

thats over 4 years though and better than blowing my money on other things in my opinion

yeah, having (albeit a shite one) a lathe/mill at work has been a god send.

its supprising what you can get done at lunchtime

fuck, think i'll stop counting, thats 6k and there's sod all there!!

I dare not go on....

I'm honestly going to say that over a dsecade of onwership - I've spent something approaching / around £15k

Another thing is if like me your daily driver is a mini too, you buy bits then see something better so the old stuff ends up on the daily driver, so you end up building 2 cars.

I don't want to think about it. Engine and box alone would probably be over 5k.

ditto tom, its not the money thats the issue its the relationships my cars wrecked from arguing about the money spent on it lol

actually thats a point, i has a really hot girlfriend until my blue mini got in the way......

i dont want to start adding up either, but i'd say 10k. maybe a bit less but still lots to do.

one thing i found has helped is to make a spreadsheet with every thing you want on it, add it up, shit yourself, and then start taking out the non essentials and stuff you can refurb or get S/H. the set a monthly budget and work plan.

one thing i was going to get was a works heated front screen, @150notes sod that! especially as it'll probably get stone chiped anyway.

i spent about 4000 on mine getting it how i want but i buy most things 2nd hand

my bird found my box of reciepts and decided to kindly add them up. she threw them at me when she finished. probably due to the wedding i have been putting off for 4 years by saying we couldnt afford it! 7.5k and some reciepts still not counted! (that was a hint fastcarl!!!)
