mmm, thottle bodies and megasquirt!

Actually Tom, many moons ago i did hack the manifold down on the engine you have dibs on, with the intention of turning it into throttle bodies, now I have a tig i could stick a plate on the end so you could bolt on some bodies.

or failing that I have a spare set of bike carbs.

Joe, I am already one step ahead of you.......see pic.......all I need to do now is save up for the ECU, planning to run 8 injectors with an "outer" pair staged to come in 50% at over 5000rpm, the Emerald is the kit to do this with I believe!

*happy*

Ha Ha! exactly what I had in mind!!!

Still, spare bit of manifold there for the taking.

Not tempted by the megasquirt? that can do staged injectors to can't it?

For me, part of the reason to buy the Emerald is the fact you have got Dave Walker on the end of the phone in case any technical support is needed, plus the fact IMO he is "The Man" for mapping it when it is done.......

Not too bad actually Neil, we weren't out there that long after you had left to be honest, it got to the point where we needed to run the engine up, and obviously we couldn't do that at 11pm last night!

Started fairly early this morning, few last bits to put on, helicopter tape on the door bars, then just a quick whizz over with the pressure washer to get all the crud and grinding dust off it.........
Cheers for your help last night Neil, also cheers to Nic who has sent me a sender that I was missing.

good point,

As far as i see it there are 2 ECu options that I would consider DIY (Megasquirt) or bought plug and play, (Emerald).

That is why I put Emerald on.

WAHOO! Passed MOT straight through! I knew all the usual MOT things like bushes and joints etc etc would be right, I was just worried that a jobsworth tester might get shitty about the seats, belts, lack of rear seats, etc etc. However he was a top bloke, was genuinely interested in some of the things that had been done to it, and then passed it straight through!
The only minor point was that one side handbrake effort was borderline, probably because the rear discs hardly do any work, however it got through with just an advisory, will put new discs and pads on the back this winter.

Iain, no radio in this one mate, in that space the shift light control box is mounted now.

the other 205 wasnt a bog std gti vegard, it had the mi-16 in it plus other good bits etc. so i'm guessing it was a make one good car out of the 2 rather than a re-shell. hence this car carrying its original number not MOP's (RIP *frown*) *smiley*

Iain is right Vegar, the car bought for £300 as a "donor shell" was body wise 95% good, but needed plenty of work to get it up to scratch mechanically. Also, as Iain points out, the old damaged car had plenty of go-faster parts on it, big brakes, bias pedal box, LSD, Mi16 engine etc etc, so all the standard stuff was ripped off the donor car, the rollcage was then installed, and then all the "quick" bits went back on.
When we first bought the car it was named "MOP" (Mouldy Old Peugeot). Then after substantial re-engineering and modification it became known as "MOP EVO2".
This one I have just finished is "MOP EVO3"!!!

Jim, I think Gromit has moved out on strike after I killed the old one. Or maybe since moving house I can't find him? In any case if I don't turn him up I shall have to report him lost to the RSPCA and then go down to Halfords to buy one of his younger brothers.

Thanks for all the comments guys. This car will be making an appearance at the Stroke Association Charity day, so if you fancy a ride in it, that is your chance!
