I have heard that someone makes them, but never seen any evidence. As Bud says we made ours from a one piecs ABS front and a Minispares Bonnet.

I did acctually get promised one from SMB composites, but they never came up with the goods, and really pissed me off.

definatly a small gap in the market as this isnt the 1st,2nd,3rd....10th time i've heard the exact same question. Forget SMB, i've seen glass hammers that have been more use than him.

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

So i guess just using a one piece and cutting the bonnet lines, then finding a way to pin the bonnet would be the only option really!

Im sure they would be quite popular if manufactured, maybe the only reason ppl dont by the clubman flip fronts is because they cant get the 2-piece ones, so the ppl who make them like Curley dont think there is a market for the clubman flips all together so dont bother! It a vicious cycle*blush*

Shropshire.

i was also promised one from SMB composites... he had plenty of ideas but never produced anything, complete waste of time.

i ended up getting a 1 piece... and some hinges, making it flip.

Hmm pretty weird!

They only thing that put me off them is that they have included A-panels on them! Why cant they be like normal flip fronts and not have them? My a-panels are perfectly fine at the mo i dont want to cut them off lol!

Speak to them. I have used them several times in the past and a phone call usually gets all the answers and help needed!!

Rich,

I would have tought that it would be pretty easy to cut the a pannels off the fibreglass front.

Rog,

You came very close to costing me an extra £100, but as I've been informed by ABS that they both weigh the same, I've decided to go for fibre glass.

Yes easy to cut them off.

But better to keep them on IMO. If you are having a 2-piece front then you never need to 'flip' the front, which means you don't have to cut your arches in half.

Much better idea IMO

i still dont like fibreglass/carbon flip fronts and dont see the point exept for race cars. whats wrong with steel panels and why does every one seem to go for a clubman?

I guess they go for Clubman either for the extra under bonnet space or the fact they think they look cool.

I have just bough a clubman steel front .... attached to a clubman shell actuall ... LOL

I must admit that for a road car I'd rather have the metal there or else every little bit of car park rash could be enough to mean a trip to the bodyshop ....

I have had a flip front, on a van actually, which was almost fitted by the previous owner .... I say almost as it only touched the shell where you didn't want. It was that bad you could look at the engine without opening it ... well nearly...

For my own build I guess I'll be going for a flip front just as I expect it to be somewhat tempermental .... on Candice's car it'll be all steel.

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I think they may buy from ABS, even if not there is quite a difference in price!

Steel weighs more.

I've gone for a clubman front end for my track car on the simple grounds that it gives me more space under the bonnet.

That look's identical to the ABS one but more expensive.
