As the title really, the thing is I know they handle extremely well having suprised many people in mine, who have commented if they took that corner like that they would be in the hedge.

I am aware though even minis have limits.

Personal experiance welcome!

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

i had one on the drive that i try to turn on its side, thanks to the low CofG it took 4 of us to tip it enough

however if you were to clip the back end on a grass verge, hedge, or similar then im sure it would be quite easy

A mate of mine rolled a 3 day old sport pack when he had to try and get away from some twit on the wrong side of the road round a blind bend!!! Rear wheel dug into the soft verge as he tried to correct the near spin the car ended up in.... gutted!!!

Ok, maybe I am missing something but why is it easier to roll them with 13" wheels?

I personally wouldn't use anything else on my own cars!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

never got close to rolling on road tyres, always lose grip first.

It's a different matter with slicks. It took me a few years experimenting to get my mini less tippy.

Mainly due to the fact that most cars fitted with 13s even from the factory are poorly setup, with weird and wonderful caster, camber angles and the added weight of the rims, exagerates some of the issues withh the standard mini suspension. That not to say that 13s cannot work, there is just very few cars with them fitted that actualy do.

Oh the old 10" V 13" arguement ..... I get this all the time on my local club forum.

Each to their own I say.

For the record I like 13s because I am yet to find a decent "all weather" tyre for 10" wheels.

To my mind the follwoing is true and it is going to take a lot of evidence to change my mind.

13s give the best tyre and brake options, handle very well so long as you keep the wheel width and offset sensible (read no 7s..)

12s give the best compromise for a daily driver as the slightly higher side walls and slightly narrower tread section make the car comfortable and forgiving to drive distance in. Can still get proper brakes behind them.

10s look best, but brakes are either expensive or crap. No road tyre that will work in 30 degC heat and snow / driving rain equally. Ride is bouncy as the side walls are un damped. Steering can feel a little vague compared to 13s but the overall feel of the car is classic mini ....

just my 2p worth.

Forgot to mention ... my mate that rolled the car had it on loan from Rove while they sorted his car out for problems that should never have made it from the factory!!! He was mr popular I can tell you!!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

The driver I guess ....

If you can drive then decent set-up on 13s is the quickest .... I've proved this time and time and time again!! 10s flatter a dim driver as the car feels like it's going to let go way before it actually does and scares them back into their limits!!!

13s do break away suddenly on the limit but not before the car taps you on the shoulder and says "oy, prat ... how about a bit of respect??"

It' the same thing as 911s. The 911 is one of the most comunacative and "DRIVER" friendly cars in the world .... it's very much like me ... doesn't suffer fools ..... at all..!!!!

Looks like lift-off oversteer then the back wheel dug into something or hit something (kerb?).

Lift off oversteer in a Mini? Can't say I have ever experienced that, I must have been doing something wrong all these years driving them.

Basically yes and ran out of talent!
Did not learn and refitted wheels to new car but fitting 10s at same venue made car 4 seconds a lap quicker! (Lydden not Goodwood where pic is taken btw)

i agree with the tyer thing for 10s. the A-08s arent the best in the wet or damp as i found out earlyer tonight!! (was a close call put it that way)
i might go for the other yoko tyers and see what there like (carnt think what there called now).
has anyone rolled a mini by just turning to fast or has it always cliped somthing to make it roll over?

My build thread..

Scruffy I am supprised you went quicker on 10s but I believe you.

Whenever we have tried this 13s always come out quicker with a good driver at the wheel (only fair way to do it with a good driver not used to the car on any set-up, try one wheel size, then the others, then back to originals to make sure the times aren't changing due to increased familiarity)
