Check out my shiny new Bottom arms that my Gfs Dad has fabricated me out of shiny Stainy. I was a bit worried about the weight but theyve ended up ever so slightly lighter than the standard items plus they look sweet!!

They look great buddy, don't want to piss on your bonfire but I'd be worried about the stainless cracking, it is pretty brittle and does fatigue, not what you want on bottom arms really, at the very least I'd be checking them regular.

Oh you mean for the taper in the hole on the end? If so i think he reemed it with a tapered bit. 1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

Yeah, i asked him about the strengths and he said that they should be ok, however i will be checking them regulairly. Better safe than sorry!

i wouldent use stainless in any load bearing situation really, it just dosent compare to decent hightensile steel.

They are the sort of thing I'd fit to a show car ..... but only if the car was going on a trailer. I'm not hard on cars as I drive smoothly but I have seen some seriously damaged suspsension pieces due to simple pot holes etc. Every day is a school day ...........

it may be prudent to have your fist (prototypes) tested mate i understand where the lads are coming from, Titanium is also extremely brittle, but is used for suspension struts on F1 cars... so they must have come up with a shape or way to treat the metal for strength. it would be nice to know how they coped under loads ?

F1 teams know exactly how many seconds a part has run for, what it's exact history is and everything is checked over and over again. They have some of the best designers in the world doing many, many hours of testing and calulations that would make you calculator's brain hurt. They can't afford mistakes but they can afford to replace components every X miles....
