what front mounted radiators are you guys running? whats a decent type, once the snow has tailed off i'm gonna go scrappyards & have a look for somat suitable, preferably the inlet & out let on the same side, ie the right hand side when viewing the car from the front

its worth nicking my mates rad off him then really, its free, i'd have to setup a fan tho & a filler neck inline, ie from the thermostat pipe to the rad inlet

are those pacet leccy fans any good, there are a few on egay,

i'd hook it up just off a manual switch, is this ok? i tend to keep an eye on my guages, this would be ok with the metro rad i thought

did'nt i see somewhere that the mechanical fan is power sapping

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

mk1 metro rad, did for the miglia and seems to be fine for me too although not pushed it hard.

i'd put a temp switch in to be honest. if i remember your going to be using megajolt? that should have a fan switch

megajolt can control it, but it does not have any temp sensors...

cool, i do appriciate ya thorts chaps, i'm trying to make as much space as possible in my engine bay so i dont really want to run an expansion tank,

i've found an inline pipe with a rad cap & drain pipe, simular to the mini rad design, from an neighbors motorbike, i'm thinking of putting this inline from the thermostat housing to the rad inlet, should work i reckon

You need so form of pressure bleed off.

I personally prefer to have an expansion tank than have it piddling out onto the road!!

If I am doing a track day in a Mini with the normal radiator arrangement I fit a small catch tank ....better to bleed to there than under my contact patch ....

I've been thinking about this too, my gf has a nissan micra 1993 model and it has a smallish front mount radiator it has a expansion tank but also has a filler on the actual radiator top.

I'm thinking this may be a good option but not sure where the inlet and outlets are on it though.

WooHoo Passed it's MOT!!!! One of the cars in The Portsmouth Mini Turbo Massive!!

rogerm, i have some beer cans & zip-ties for excess water to bleed into *happy* specially for trackdays

just so you know, i dont mean drinking beer & trackdays, not a chance!!!!!! would'nt risk my car never mind anyone elses pride n joy!

my idea should work though, i'm thinking it could be a possible place for my intercooler if i loose the mini rad

I know what your thinking ..... sort of thing I do but use an alloy drinks bottle from a cycling shop in a bottle cage under the wing.

I'm still not personally keen on having the IC in those sort of positions but plenty of people seem to do it with no problems!

the other reasan i thought of this position is that i could make use of the old rad mounting bracker for the intercooler but put it in at a januty angle to gain airflow from the front if you picturing what i am, maybe with some sort of sheet alloy to duct air 2wards it, i've a few ideas in my head to make some simple stuff up which i think will work

How many of you are having to use a remote oil filter then? Looking at mine theres no room for fan on the back (suck through) without moving the oil filter, and the grill would have to be moved forward for a blow through?
