First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

Here comes a tale

Here we see the 'turbo'minis stand at mitp (before alexf got there)

On the way there I blew a turbo gasket, so when i got home i pulled the manifold and turbo off. However the mot was due in a few days and i knew it wasnt going to pass. I had a few plans for the winter, and what with a few other projects planned; i decided to make an early start and pull it apart.

Typically it was pulled apart in a few hours and i was full of enthusiasm and plans

The plan at this point was to repair the rust in the door pillar, however one too many ciders, and talking about my old mini, saw a very good friend offer to deseam it!

At this point little did we know how much rust was actually hiding behind the seam sealer....

Anyway lots of angle grinder and hammer abuse was given to the car

and a replacement front fitted that included the A-panels so i could be nice and smooth

Days turned into weeks as I slowly got back the hang of fillering

Acid dipping was planned, but it was about £1100 out of my price budget, so instead several wire brushes were fitted to the angle grinder (one bit of wire spiked me in the ball bag!!)

I intially planned to have it finished by christmas. This didnt happen, and the flu over christmas hit me for six, so no work was done at all. January was a bit of a busy month for me, so progress was very very slow

Finally today i managed to break out the spray gun and begin priming it!!!

Hopefully ill get some red on it by next monday

weld it up from the inside and you'll be ok, mine was a pain as the back is made from several panels, hence the amount of filler

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Looking good mate.

Life has got in the way of me doing much to Candice's car but the chassis jigs, door gigs and all the other bits to make doing future ones easy are nearly there. Starting the car proper in a week or so.....

Can't wait to see it in the metal.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
