Hello you lot ...

ok for todays whats best question ...

the metro pipework looks like this

turbo ------ standard tPiece(toActuator) --------- Elect. BleedV

I have done this

turbo -------standard tPiece(toActuator) -------- ManualBleedV

I was wondering if it would be more efficient to do this

turbo ------tPiece(2 man bleed valve )-----standard tPiece(toActuator) ------- BLOCK

Does this make sense ?

as usual if I am being a Pratt

Tell me where to go !!!

1) dont use a bleed valve

2)Use a MBC (seated bearing type)

3)

Turbo------MBC-------Actuator

Job done,

A MBC, cuts out wastegate creep and spiking and is more relaible then a bleed valve.

OR if you wanted to be cool *wink* buy two MBC's and a 12volt normally open pneumatic solenoid. Wire the solenoid up so when you put 12v on it it closes ie Normally open, then

---MBC (big boost)---------------
| |
| |
Turbo---------- NO-------MBC (small boost)----T----actuator

So , you set the big boost to your max psi boost and your small boost to a day to day psi boost. Put the switch to power the solenoid in the cockpit and you can drive around on low boost, and when you want to go BIG, flick the switch and youve got max boost. Having the switch NO menas if the power fails it will go automatically go onto low boost.

The first set of vertical lines should go from NO up to the MBC and the second set from the T up to the MBC

Cool cheers mate ..

I have a MBC that I have not used yet ... the one with the ball bearing inside ?
That only opens at a certain pressure doesnt it ?

I am going to sound a right dinkle here;

but I dont really understand how to fit it ; The bleed valve was easy; just bleed air out of the system !!

the MBC if fitted in line line like in the diagram should it only open at the preset pressure ? so basicallty the line is closed until teh pressure is reached ?

God I sound like a w@nker !!

GRIN !

Yep MBC in line, os the actuator wont see any pressure, until the MBC gets to the pressure set by you, which then opens and relaeses that pressure immediately onto the actuator.
You usually get a faster spool up, feeling like its pulling more.

Going two stage is also good for the 1/4 mile, enabling you to launch with less boost/wheel spin

sounds good, ill get one sorted soon.

The twin setup sounds good, nice and simple too really, not sure that i need 2 different setups on this car though, its purely for track events so cant see it needing anything less than full throttle!! *happy*

It might look like it has a tee, but it shouldnt have if its a MBC, because all the air is used to drive the actuator.

basically its an inline switch for the wastegate then rather than relying on the wastegate sensor.

Either closed or open.

Clever thing really. Never really took the time to see what they were all about!

question...

rite this thing opens when boost is at a certain pressure, letting it thro to the actuator, now if you lift off, boost drops, the valve closes, but will the pressure at the actuator side of the valve not still be high?? or is there a 1 way valve to counter-act this?

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

so, could one of these valves be fitted instead (not in the same place, I know) of the electronic metty valve that the ECU used to control so that at, say, 7psi, it opened the waste gate (standard - 4psi)????
