Just seen a blue engine block in the pictures section. It looks similar to a A series but different oil filter location. I have seen one on a montego at the scrapyard, just curious is this block better or the same any advantages or disadvantages over using std mini or metro item, would it fit onto the std mini gearbox, any info would be of help.

Many thanks
Chris Barkas

yeah the gearbox looks a strange mix of parts, can these blocks be used on a std mini gearbox or not, yeah the head was the opposite way round to a mini the engine had a strange lookin inlet manifold.

Could be either an inline block, or an automatic. I cannot remember if the Montego had a side mounted gearbox.

See midget album in pictures area. This is an in-line A+ block.Apparently there are many internal differences to the transverse block, including main bearings, fixings etc.

'Where does the engine go?'

I have a litle problem, I send my turbo block no machenary shop and the guy tell me that only possible is rebore the block to 73,5 mm (1380) but I only want 1293cc. I have this block a 1275 A+ montego.

The block is the same from the pic, can tell me if I could heve problems wiht oil pressure because the oil filter is too high, and the need to use a plate between the block and oil filter to use a oil cooler.

That's two different blocks there...

Also, it might be that a 73,5mm rebore is needed. Has it had standing water in it, wrecked piston?

The montego block that I have is std, and in great condition, The metro turbo block the only rebore possible is 73,5mm.
The question is if I can use the montego block to make a 1293 turbo engine.
The montego block is equal to the right pic
