I was wondering around B&Q today, as you do - actually i picked up a rivet gun for this project.

Anyway, I noticed they sold soft seamless copper piping in 8mm and 10mm 10meter lengths. I was wondering if this kind of piping was of the correct grade for fuel lines?

Where else might i get 10m of copper pipe cheaply that is right for the job?

Can anyone tell me where to get P-clips from to attach it to the bottom of the car? (got the alu rivets thanks *wink* )

Many thanks

Toby

that is exactly what I did, was walking around b and q and saw the same stuff. I got the 8mm stuff going both ways. It is really cheap aswell isn't it.
One thing I am unsure of now is having a swirl pot in the tank. Talked to a guy down at my local mini centre and he said I should fit an injection tank as it has a swirl pot in it which apparantly prevent vapourisation of fuel. To be honest it may be a problem for my mini because it drinks fuel like its going out of fashion!

I was just worried that it would be too soft - it bends quite easily in yor hands and striking it with a metal object pierces it quite easily :S

Have you run your lines under the car or inside? - what kind of clips did you use to secure it?

I guess for about ?14 quid for 20m of 8mm its not too bad *wink*

you have to be careful not to kink it. I ran it under the car and used the original tabs on the floor pan to secure it. As for connections rubber fuel hose and jubilee clips
*tongue*

yep, i did it the same way as as sam too. Seems to be working fine aswell, especially the T-piece return, saved me getting my fuel tank modded anyway.

Does the bit between the T piece and the tank have to be wider?

OK great. For the bit from the outlet on the tank to the start of the copper pipe, did you also use the rubber pipe and jubiliee clips? What is the size of the standard return feed on the metros? I could take that off as it wont need it anymore if i can use the piping.

I found some pvc coated stuff from my local rolling road to give it some more protection as I was running it under the car.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Ok chaps good... I'll have a wander to B&Q for a nosey..

I was reading up on a few old threads.. From what I gather the 8mm stuff is up to the job, good results with both 8 & 10mm..

Brett... Those P clips would need to be self tapped/riveted to the underneath right, not great for keeping the rust at bay I'd imagine? They do look the right job however...

I've fitted mine with rubber lined P clips and steel rivets for strength and a liberal dollop of paint and wax to seal them
