Chavs use PICTURES of carbon fiber printed on plastic not sure why a black and silver check looks like carbon fiber but motorworld assure me it does. I think with the white rasied letter it will look cool!

Does it have the right reflection properties required to be used a backing...?

Just interested because a friend of mine with a kit a car, which had home made plate on. (all be it in a correct colour backing) got on offer of change it or points from the friendly boys in blue.

I drill holes in everything..!

aluminium places arnt reflective? Neither are my current 3D plastic retro plates?

I still dont understnad why vegard called me a chav.

Heres the two samples of vinyl that the letters will be made from, either mirror finish, or aluminium looking stuff. Im making this example one up using the aluminium looking stuff as i think it looks best.

perhaps when trying to tell people your not a chav you should avoid the burbury

get a plate made up and fitted to the car, then take a photo at a reasonable distance and it will look normal, get up close and it will look carbon

i think done well it will look really good, done a bit lop sided and it will be complete chav tastic

If your car is legal to be on black and silver then it doesn't have to be reflective (I don't think).

A friend of mine just got 3 points for having black and silver on a car that shouldn't have .... did him for driving an un-roadworthy vehicle!! Be careful.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

That's it, I'm not going to visit Cheltenham again, everyone you know seems to get pulled over, I'm going to stay down in Bristol where it's safe. *tongue*

i think it'll look good, even with the raised letters it would be a good twist on the older style plate, probobly not the most legal but i'm a bit hit n miss on vehicle legalitites, its the old hot-rodder attitude, i'll fix it officer &produce all the relevent documents n stamps haha *surprised*P

SKYLINES ARE LIKE CLITS, EVERY FLANGE SEEMS TO HAVE ONE: see this sticker on my silvia

the Search-section on this forum is blummin superb & simple to use, unlike some other forums, without the search-section & the help of this bunch of chaps on here i'll never be able to !!!Start the day with a 998cc turbo!!! :) i'm getting closer though!

nope not leagal unless you paint it black !the weave pattern would be classed as a "watermark or design" and you will get ure little ass pulled left right and center ! did you not like check that before you bought it dude ? you will end up being branded along with the "honey comb crew" sorry if i sound blunt Feebs

unless you keep em as show plates ? why not get the aluminium embosed ones they look nice and classy ? and wont shatter if you catch em like carbon or plastic ones would ?

hahahaha down to china town baby yeah !!!!

nah just 30 quid potentially everytime you roll it off the drive, plus a torrent of Hort1 and VDRS forms to go and get stamped from a local MOT station (at cost) nowt stopping you spraying the faces with acrylic black then getting embosed letters to plug in, ? without being real pedantic also there should be a highlighted border, but its real rare you would get done for not having one :)

Haha, yeah of course, they are show plates.

And another thing, they will be a hell of alot clearer than the previous plastic lettered old style ones I had on.

Its not a problem to do a border round the outside, but like you say its not that important.

As someone who got away with black and silver plates on a '84 mini for the 2 years i drove it, ill be fine with these plates.

If worse comes to worse, i could spray the carbon with a translucent black paint to show the weave less.

Cheers for the advice though :)

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

3 points???

I thought, as rich says, it was a £30 fine? On my old mini i had a really small no plate and was told by a friendly policeman that he wouldnt tell me to remove it, but i could get a £30 fine from a not so friendly one.

Interestingly, i was reading im MCN that there was a new ruling on bike no plates that they couldnt fine you if the plate was readable from 20m

To be honest feebs your going to be unlucky if you get fined for it, particularly if theyre std size-however just hope you dont get pulled by Sheriff John Bunnell

In fairness my mate probably got his ass in his hand when they pulled him over and I suspect they put loads of nonsense down to build it up to "un roadworthy".

Speaking as somebody who has sucessfully sued a police "traffic" department for harasment a few years back I think I can say honestly it really depends on what mood the copper pulling you is in.

I once got fined for leaving the scene of an accident for moving my car 150 yards up the road to the nearest layby after some prat hit me from behind at a box junction .... my rear bumper can only have been about 6" out of the box so what he thought he was doing I don't know!!!!!! Anyway, I thought I was being helpful as it was rush hour and I was blocking the flow of traffic at a four way stop. Live and learn.

To be honest unless you try really hard to upset the police you're unlikely to get more than a verbal warning as anything else requires them filling in vast amounts of paperwork, which they'd rather avoid.
