Got me head from VMax, should be fitting it tomorrow so i'll keep you all posted. And once on the rollers i'll let you know how it goes.

Well looking at it the chamber is a little different shape, evey thing else seems the same, but its hard just looking at it. The RR will tell use if it's different.

Not sure when i'm going to rays yet.

I take it you all run hardened valve seats with todays heads ?

I actually found my old cracked Avonbar head from many many years ago buried under some crap in my garage a couple of days ago !!!!

yes Stevie it has hardened seats, was thinking of going with out to help it stop cracking, but was advised strongly against.

F_CKEN thing! i pushed it a little last year, well a lot really, now every things going to pot on her! as you all no about the box prob, sorted that out, then the head prob, got another one made, now the bloody thing is miss firing!!...so to answer the questions and this is why i haven't posted, i did a RR with the new head but had problems with the mixture and it mix firing, so got to sort out the miss first. But the way things are going the summer will be over with before its sorted!

Ben i've just gone for 29 ex and 35.6 in on this head.

This was the very reason for not letting people know about the RR, as you can never tell whats going to happen.

do a compression check HOT mat

my guess is that the valves may be sticking in the guides when hot

if they are manganise bronze ones

they may need the reamer up them again

just a thougth

you'll find it matt and itll all be worth it

yep i would think of coil pack too matt , i had a sit on the rr where it went at 6500 onto 2 cyl ,and thought it was springs but now think it was coil pack ,good luck with it .

New head and misfire is often valve guides.

May need an extra ream.

Cheers chaps, i see what your saying about the miss fire but it's not the head i'm very sure, as when it miss the shift lights flicker.

my shift light used to flicker when it misfired. turned out my car was leaning off quite bad as it came on boost. no idea why it made the shift light flash though. doubt its the same as your problem but worth a look :)

no probs...i only realised when i fitted a wideband lambda and i saw the mixture drop as it did it.

i was convinced it was an electrical fault before that cos the shift light flickering was making me think the coil pack was breaking down.

Funny you should say that Bud....mine does exactly the same (shift lights all flicker together and jolts). I thought it was some wiring problem, something earthing out maybe?

How did you sort yours in the end Nick?

Mine does it on low revs when you go to accelerate, its worse when its either really cold or really hot!
