i know what carl means, but totally agree with anton; it's good to be able to talk like you would normally. I've never known anyone to be offended by the word pikey before, not even pikies!

I have used the term pikey to a police officer before so if it was a racial slur I should have been arrested.

pikies are pikies though, its the way there name has evolved, they used to be called gypo's, but that was unfair on the actual gypsy's (sp??), so people called them traveller's.
