I bought this metro for a decent shell to drop my turbo engine into which leaves me with a spare engine!

1330cc by +60 thou bore
Balanced
Lightly ported/tidied
11 stud head
ARP head bolts
10.5:1 CR
Kent 286
Vernier pulley
Mapped dizzy
Modified carb
Intake trumpet
Pipercross filter
RR setup
100 race miles and 200 road miles since rebuild

Comes from a lap record holding car.

Engine includes gearbox and all ancillaries and is ready to run with the exclusion of a clutch, although included is a metro turbo clutch/flywheel of unknown history is untested.

The engine will be in a car until mid July and so you can see it running if you like.

£500ono

Also available separately is a full Maniflow exhaust including LCB manifold for a NA metro.

Thought i may as well stick it up here as i'm sure i'm not the only person in the world who see's the good points of the Metro. That and it'll fit in someones Mini

Cheers
Gary

I'm in Petersfield, Hants although i'm taking the car up to Gloucester for a fortnight, in a week's time. Your welcome to look anytime.

Regarding the legality of the engine, i got the impression that is was impossible to remain competitive without a bit of rule bending?
I know from a few ex-competitors that a few seasons back there where a lot of questions being asked about most of the front runners and they turned out to be justified. However i simply wanted a solid Metro shell with a cage and this turned out to be the easiest way to get one, the engine was a bonus, so i can only go on what i've heard.

I imagine you are more clued up about these things than me John!

Yeah no worries was'nt having a dig, just no carbs mods and NO head mods are allowed in class A.

Mine IS legal!!

No dought a good engine, the right approach for a great nippy road/track engine.

Mapped ignition isn't allowed for sure. Looked down that path myself :(

i can tell you now whilst i jack this thread with this post, loads of sods are cheating as they know if you want to initiate a complaint it usually costs money, mainly as they pull the persons engine to bits !!!

Finding it hard just to get the car to my first race. People do take the piss, and it only ruins the fun for anyone else on a budget. Wrong post to view my point...but got to be said.

Edit..Grey areas are good to come up with new ideas, not to exploit

You guys seem to sum up what i've heard, it just takes the fun out of it!

It's a std MG Metro box. I'm pretty sure your not allowed any mods, not even to the final drive ratio.

The thing is i need a decent shell for my turbo engine, which is not suitable for the cup and there is no way in the world that i could afford a third car let alone find somewhere to park it so i just can't have a metro for racing and one for the road.
Which is a shame as i would love to race it. Maybe if i have more space in the future i will do it. I suppose i could enter in class D? Am i right in thinking its quite open regs? I can't afford to rebuilt the engine (turbo) to meet any specific regs so it would have to go as-is.

Out of interest, what are the costs involved, excluding the car. Registration/entry, paper work, race licence etc? You got me thinking now i remembered class D!

Once you have your car, clothing & licence...I think the price per race isn't much difference with a track day. The bonus is you have a good social with other people. All willing to help. I haven't started racing yet, but the people make you feel welcome with good advice *wink*
I'm sure its the same with minis & historic/clubman racing.

Just been scouting around and a national B is going to cost about £275, plus helmet and few bits and bobs makes around £500. So someone do me a favour and buy this engine!!!!!

Alternativly i am in need of a decent diff and would consider some kind of trade?

No, but i can happily put some up if people would like to see it. It has a red block and head with MG finned rocker cover, short stub stack with a pipercross sock on it and a bit of green washing line as a choke cable.
