just i thought id post up a few pics so you can see where i am at with my car.

shell spec so far is:



all rust welded up
boot floor cut out for carbon floor
ally doors
carbon front end
carbon boot
carbon roof showing weave
carbon miglia arches
miglia spec rollcenter cage
turbo baulkhead box
upper baulkhead box
tubbed rear arches
extensive lightening where ever possible

its still very much work in progress and evolving all the time, and i have parts all over the place!


here is a fairly recent pic of my shell and one of milambers baulkhead boxes going in (cheers mate)

looking good mate, i have a carbon roof on mine.. i remember it being a right bitch to fit! *laughing*

had mine showing weave but wasn't happy with the join to the frame, so ended up painting it.

keep us updated.

cool, i had heard that they can be a pain to fit.

i think i will be haivng to do a lot of work to get it to sit right.

problem is that they are not the same size as the metal roof, they sit just inside so you get a kind of step between metal and carbon.

I had to blend mine in with fibreglass then a bit of gel coat.

If you need any tips with fitting the carbon stuff let me know... most of my car is now FG or CF. *wink*

mark i have just had a quick search and seen your car, its mint i remember seeing it on TMF a while ago.

could i ask where you got your rad from? its a mk1 metro one isnt it?

thanks, yeah didnt get on too well with the TMF (not enough turbo talk).. there's no substitute for this site!

can never remember if its MK1 or 2 but it has both the inlet and outlet on the same side.. picked it up from my local motor trade type shop.

yeah no where near enough technical talk in general

it think its the mk1 with them on both sides, right going on monady to get a price from my local place!

the engine spec is a bit of an unkown at the moment, i really couldnt say for sure at the moment but possibly a 1380 k1100 turbo or N/A if i take the easy option.

i was dead ipressed ata avon park yesterday! most of the 1275+ turbo motors were doing 15sec 1/4 miles or less & that defo equates to a bloody fast road/track car! you gotta have a turbo, you know it makes sence *happy*

yeah i think you are right there, i just need to make sure a few of my part choices are suitable.

mini13 did a good job of convincing me to go turbo yesterday!

if you go turbo it COULD be cheaper to get the 160 brake your after,

the only "extra" stuff you'll need to get/make will be a plenum, intercooler, turbo and a few small bits like a dumpvalve.

you'll be able to save the money for headwork, cams, bottom end that'll take 9k ect.


and yes its the Mk1 metty rad with both the pipes one end.

i was i could take photos like that -when i'm building a car i just can't be bothered and end up with just 1 or 2 of the whole build process.

i sometimes spend more time making sure i have pictures that actually getting on with the job at hand!

joe i think as long as the pistons are good, which it looks like they will be, i will be going for a turbo'd K.

im looking forward to getting onto the motor now!

I have fitted a FB roof to mine mate. All i used was tigerseal. And the lip inside the car i ran more around the edge. then painted the inside the same colour as the car.

1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

turbo box is in now, im a bit happier with how solid the bulkhead is now, was a bit flimsy before!
