Hi, connected everytihtng now, everythings ffinished. Samco hoswes and dump valve are on, ready to go. Car wont move in gear at all, wont turn over, feels like engines seized. Changed starter. Engine ran perfect before, but cyliunder one is full of fuel, brimming to the top, where i connected the fuel pipe to the anti run on valve outlet last week. How to i get rid of the fuel in it, as i think that is causing the engine to lock up. Also what could i have damaged, as i tried to bump it like this :( Edited by jamesfawcett on 8th Jul, 2004. it shouldn't affect it being full of fuel, it should just spit it out of the exhaust, what have you changed on the engine? when i put on my flywheel casing it totally locked upthe diff and everything!!!! just wondering, cos if we know what ya have done then we maybe able to help ya. |

could you get some thin tube in through the spark plug gap and syphon it off? wont fire with all that fuel in and if it did i would love to hear the bang!

er...disagree with this one, if the cylinder is full of fuel and you try to bump start it, you can still do ALOT of damage! The fuel will only drain out if the cylinder is on the exhaust stroke as the other 3 strokes are compressing or pulling in. You may have been lucky and the clutch will have taken the strain but, at worst you may have bent con rods or cracked the block.

As Sprky says, If it's full of fuel, disconnect the coil (all wires) pull the plugs out, and crank it over.

it was me being thick, even after checking all the connections three times before connecting hte battery and fuel pump, i had the fuel pipe onto the breather side of the carb, the anti run on valve one. I printed the picture in the faq wrong, and they infact cross over, i read it totally wrong. I have just left it overnight with the plugs out. I only lightly bumped it, but the wheels locked up when i did on the gravel. I am going to try the syphninh thing to get excess fuel out.

just been in garage, the oil is FULL of fuel, right up the dip stick. I tried to undo the sump plug but the biggest socket i have is 5/16ths. Ill try get one tomroow. Does this mean that under the pistons, and on top it is solid fuel/oil? Could that be why it wont move? Previous Engine: 1040cc Morespeed engine, 1275 turbo head T2 Turbo Mirage Manifolds Megajolt

it wont move if when teh top of the pistons/bore etc is full of any liquid, as you cannot compress a liquid, if you crank with the sparkplygs out, it should crank fine. and squirt al the liquid out the plug holes. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

well the inside of your gearbox should be nice and clean at least!!! On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

just set it draining. It only had oil up to the minimum before, but so far one and a half full builders bucket's have been filled with petrol smelling thin oil. im really dreading the outcome of this. Previous Engine: 1040cc Morespeed engine, 1275 turbo head T2 Turbo Mirage Manifolds Megajolt

You should be ok i would of thought, always crank it over with the plugs out to get oil pressure up if an engine has been stood or put in a different car. Primes it nicely.

ok thankyou, i really dont want to get my hopes up though. I didnt jump it that hard, and when i released the clutch anyway it just slid on the gravel, i then rolled the further about 400 yards right down hte hill to my mates house where he took my battery and charged it, and toed me home! so ive been on one journey with it anyway.

actually. Maybe not so lucky. Oils fully out, ive just tried to push it in 4th. Nothing. It wont budge, and the flywheel doesnt move at all, i can see the teeth through the starter motor hole :(

right ive tried that, nothing moves. Im going to take clutch housing off and have a look in there first to see if anythings stuck, dont know why it should be but its worth checking. Are the head gaskets the same for the turbos as the 1275 metros? If they are, i have a spare one so i might take the head off, dont really want to do this though and upset it. Cant think of owt else though. Previous Engine: 1040cc Morespeed engine, 1275 turbo head T2 Turbo Mirage Manifolds Megajolt

did you try pushing it in 1st or reverse? Due to the ratios moving the car 1 foot will not move the engine a great deal. Did you take all the plugs out? It is unlikely that you will have bent valve gear (push rods etc) as it is the pistons that were being held by the liquid.

do you not have a petrol station near you? You will need to change the oil again anyway to ensure you have got all the fuel out.
