it's not a mini, it's not even petrol, but it's got a turbo. It should do a good job of dragging the mini around with 295lb ft torque. Getting an average of over 45 mpg at the moment, with the money I save I should be able to get the mini on the track.

it does go well,

Pinched from some website
"The ST TDCi's engine is a 2.2-litre turbocharged in-line four with 153bhp and a thumping 265lb ft of torque, a figure that rises to 295lb ft in 'transient over-boost' - floor the throttle completely and you briefly get an extra 30lb ft for even snappier response. Even without over-boost, the ST diesel is much torquier than the ST220, which musters 204lb ft."

Nice, you will barely notice the mini on the back of that, well once the tow bar is fitted!

I was also thinking of getting mine remapped, the promise more power which I belive, but also better MPG. How can this be? what are your thoughts? If you run a diesel leaner will it cause problems like a petrol?

Well unfortunately the ecu on it had been messed with and so its hard to compare to standard

However, Before the remap it was slow as anything due to turbo lag and there was no torque.

The MPG was averaging about 35MPG on the dual carriageways.

After the Remap, it was a completely differant car. No judder on take off from lack of power, torque pulling it all the way through the rev range quite rapidly and the MPG improved to 50-60mpg on dual carriageways steady speed.

Id recommend it on a diesel but by a person who knows what theyre doing.

Back once again like a renegade master

More torque, less throttle, so less fuel used.

Same with people buying dung n/a diesels, and driving flat out everywhere just to make progress. Whereas a modern turbodiesel will just smoke along easily, using less fuel.

Diesel tuning is different, and I was surprised when I fitted an EGT gauge to my shitty volvo.

Lean mixtures burn cool. Its when you start dumping fuel into them, EGT's start to rise....because its making more power. So I can only assume that less fuel will do no harm at all...it will just make less power. At idle, they are barely over 100degC, and at cruise, maybe 200-250degC
Not sure what effect altering timing has. Mine is a crappy old conventional diesel. So I just screwed it til EGT's got to about 700degC. As std they were about 550degC. So a little more boost, and more fuel, and it defo performs better.

Doesnt seem to use any more fuel either, and it isnt at the stage where its smoking yet. I cant give it any more fuel though, as the idle increases too much, and I cant reduce it.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

nice one Jim. I had my Audi re-mapped a few months ago - I did get some extra mpg but it was minimal. What I did get was a far more reponsive car and a bag more torque - perfect tow car
