it's not a mini, it's not even petrol, but it's got a turbo. It should do a good job of dragging the mini around with 295lb ft torque. Getting an average of over 45 mpg at the moment, with the money I save I should be able to get the mini on the track.

Very nice and the colour is right as wil says. Fast estates are brilliant. Me dads just bought a 2.4 JTD 156 sportswagon. Very nice car 2 days in, got it remapped and now its also a license killer. I was also thinking of getting mine remapped, the promise more power which I belive, but also better MPG. How can this be? what are your thoughts? If you run a diesel leaner will it cause problems like a petrol? Team www.sheepspeed.com Racing

If you run a diesel leaner will it cause problems like a petrol? More torque, less throttle, so less fuel used. Same with people buying dung n/a diesels, and driving flat out everywhere just to make progress. Whereas a modern turbodiesel will just smoke along easily, using less fuel. Diesel tuning is different, and I was surprised when I fitted an EGT gauge to my shitty volvo. Lean mixtures burn cool. Its when you start dumping fuel into them, EGT's start to rise....because its making more power. So I can only assume that less fuel will do no harm at all...it will just make less power. At idle, they are barely over 100degC, and at cruise, maybe 200-250degC Not sure what effect altering timing has. Mine is a crappy old conventional diesel. So I just screwed it til EGT's got to about 700degC. As std they were about 550degC. So a little more boost, and more fuel, and it defo performs better. Doesnt seem to use any more fuel either, and it isnt at the stage where its smoking yet. I cant give it any more fuel though, as the idle increases too much, and I cant reduce it. 9.85 @ 145mph

nice one Jim. I had my Audi re-mapped a few months ago - I did get some extra mpg but it was minimal. What I did get was a far more reponsive car and a bag more torque - perfect tow car |
