Hi all

Am after a relitively cheap hydrolastic pump, dont mind if its home made just aslong as it works!

Yeh same Dave, i dont really have the patience to make one, but if someone has one for sale or would be willing to make one, i would be interested in purchasing

i think i got one in the garage you can have for 50 + postage

cheers mini13 i had a look at the link but wasnt sure how he managed to conect that little adapter to the grease gun.

I was looking for an austin 1100 site that had good instructions on this but the site seems to have vanished.

What I think could work is to get one of those holts tyre seal tins from halfords and pinch the tyre adaptor from it. I'm sure the one I had was made of brass, if so you could get a peice of brass tapped to acept a grease nipple and then solder the tyre valve onto that.

hey presto a cheap grease gun hydro adaptor...

Another hint, pump the suspensiuon up a bit high to allow for settleing and then let a bit at a time out, carefull tho as it comes out quick as its at around 300 psi.

Shorten the rods on the hydrolastic's once you've got your pump.

also Citrone LHM fluid is meant to stiffen stuff up too.

I pumped my old metro turbo up, i was going to shorten the rods and pump it up to a higher pressure to hopefully stiffin it up as it was like a boat! but it got robbed!

Hi Milamber, what rods do you shorten? I take it there must be a how to somewhere. Where you racing in the mg metro cup last week?

if you drop the wheels of there is a plate with the bump stop on held by 4 bolts. Remove this (after letting all the fluid out) and remove it, the hydro unit will then come out, in the bottom of it is a rod that the top arm knuckle joint fits in, pull the knuckle joint out and you may fine a washer each side you can remove, if not you can trim a bit from the rod. dont take too much though as the sprin in the rod will bottom out.

I seem to remember 5mm is a maximum for some reason.

once you pump the suspension up again you will have to pump it up more to get the same ride hight giving a higher spring rate.

There is a how too on the metropower website i think! whack it in google! One mans loss is another mans gain milamber! Still fancy another metro though!

Cheers, have found the how to. The fronts sound really easy but the rears sound like abit of a nightmare!

Never use Citroen LHM Fluid in Hydragas displacers. It eats through the rubber that separates the nitrogen from the fluid.

Can get hydrolastoc fluid from my local auto factors for £12 for 5l so will use that

just a quickie to say the other half is going to post it tommorrow. hope thats good for you
