The reason I would like to contact him is, I've reasently brought a racing Mini that was built by Manx Racing, the car is a work of art, I would like to find out a little bit more about its history.
It's the car you can see on the Minisport advert and catalogue, the Phil Short's very sucessfull sprint and Hillclimb car.

Yep, thats the one, had to mortgage my sole to buy it, but sometimes you know that you just have to have it.
It may well end up with a 970s based turbo motor in it.

Wow, what's Pete Short replaced it with then?

I have a feeling Carl told me somthing about this car the other week. I'm sure if he did he'll mention it again. Put Pete Shorts old motor in the thread and I'm sure he'll read it.

I could be making it up but I'm sure it was Carl

I would appreciate the phone numbers send to arvgkarv@aol.com thanks.
I've posted a photo in the album no326, I will take some better ones of the engine and upload those aswell.

The cooling system is pretty much what you find on most miglias, the front radiator is an aluminium Brise fabrications job, electric water pump, and one of those fancy laminova oil to water coolers aswell.

I forgot to say,

Wil,
Phil Shorts gone back to racing an Audi quattro I believe, I don't think he has any Minis at all now, he sold the works rally car he had for around 100k last year. I've a very busy work schedule for this year so won't get out in the car as much as Iwould have hoped, I'm going to do the Curborough championship again, so I may well see you and Ben there, we will be in the same class.

Thanks Rick,

I can't wait to really get to know the car, it obviously very different to my 1000cc turbo, the grip and the handling are outstanding, although its not massively faster than the turbo in a straight line.
I managed to get a really good deal on the car with Phil, he had a lot of offers from people who he knew were going to break it up for parts, Phils not short , excuse the pun, of a bob or two and was determined to sell it to somebody who was going to continue to use the car as it meant for.
I've wanted to run in mod prod for ages but to build a really competitive car costs a fortune in parts far more than I paid for this one and then theres the time to build it.
The turbo will still be out regulary, my 17yr old son is going to do most of the Curborough championship in it. We need more Mini's in hillclimbing and sprinting, theres some fantastic cars on this site,I wish more people would have a go.

slight mistake its a 2004 miniworld , i only have the article itself , the corner of the page says 45 years of mini 1959-2004 ,the back issues on a reverse page list upto march so i guess its in an issue after that. also could you let me know what dates you will be at curborough as i liked to see the car cheers
