I've been using a fairly mild cam in my turbo and thus is fading a bit at top end. I still want to keep some drivability as i have now, but want to produce some more power? I've been told as well as gavin wakely (from a previous thread) that piper do a cam called a 475 or a 465? But i can't find it on the piper site

Do they mean the 466??? no power under 3000 rpm though? ideally i want something from 1500 to get the turbo moving? any ideas what this 465 cam is?

thanks

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

quite possible it may be the 265 duration cam similar to the kent 266

the power band you mentioned from 1500 helps

hmm, i am using a kent 266 in mine at the moment, reading a bit more into it, looking at the avon bar phase 3 turbo cam it produces power from 3000-8500, surely thats far to high for a turbo mini? it will just put all the power on at the same time the turbo is coming on boost surely? Am i right???????

The P3 is to radical to be honest, you'll lose all the bottom end the 266 gives.

Been looking into this myself and the ph2 seams the way to go, not sure how much of a difference it will make bhp wise over the 266 tho.

How much more revs do you want mine went up to 7k and wanted to go more but i stopped that with the limmiter.

Would be nice if someone has had the experiance of both in the same motor to compare, im not botherd about drivability tbh as its going to be a track toy

hmm well the 266 ran really well but it did seem to run out of steam at 6000, which to the specs is expected, i might try the avonbar cam, over the winter, it just seemed to die a little bit with 18 psi at 6500, but low down its fantastic. I must admit it drives so well and still made 182bhp on the rollers. maybe i'm reading into it to much. i just want to get in the 12's!

Are you sure that it's the cam limiting the top end?

Is your turbo running out of steam or the exhaust causing a restriction?

well it ran a 13.5 with full road gear, if i took the cage and the other bottle of nitrous out then i reckon it will be about 550, there's not a great deal of metal left and also a lot of aluminium components, i can stick more gas in but if its not letting enough fuel etc in then its fairly pointless? i don't think its the turbo running out of steam its a t3 so fairly big, and there are no ristrictions in the exhaust it has one box at the very end of the exhaust. maybe i'm just to keen!!!!! i want a medal!!!

You are right on the edge of the compressor map at 180hp and probably suffering from high exhaust back pressure as well.

I think that a longer duration cam will make it worse, not better.

Time for a GT17 I think.
