What got you into turbo minis?

Mine was a blue turbo that made the cover in 1996... I think its fairly well known by a few on here... blue with red leatehr interior and lots of vents int he bonnet.

I simply brought the mag as I liked the look of the car and after that, it was down hill from there into the mini scene. It was about 8 years after that I actually got a turbo engine into a mini!!!!

first ever turbo mini i saw was at a mini show when i was 17, was yellow, kitted with starmags, was wondering wher the air pipe from the carb went and saw the turbo then once i noticed this oddity saw another 4 at the same show.

Wasnt into minis then tho so cant remember any other details, infact, i hated minis then

exhaust was in the carl austin out the bonnet style , also first mini i had seen on 13's

i think it was paul wiffins (think that was his name? sorry if not!) a blue clubman, cant quite remember where abouts it was i saw it, possibly my first london-brighton run back in 96.

12 years ago , a friend of a friend built one pre avonbar bulk boxs etc, liked it so much i bought it off him and in 10 days time i`m going to sell it.Longest time i`ve ever had 1 car.

Alex, the blue turbo was sprayed in Fiat blitz blue with a sassy grey roof. Dave Close was the owner, the car in in america with a blown engine!

saw stuart gurrs black clubman in a mini mag with a blue clubman a few years back, both with very high bhp, still got the mag somewhere!

Well believe it or not I kind of settled on the idea of a turbo mini myself......at the time I had Minis as everyday road cars, started out with a std 998cc engine, a few years later that had 'morphed' into a 1340 with big cam head etc etc all the usual stuff. And all was well except the fact it broke. Continually. Until I got so sick of it I decided I was going to build another mini that would be fairly quick but would not break....so I decided on a turbo engine for it. And so 5 years later, I am still building said Mini. Unfortunately boring practicalities such as 'being a skint student' and 'everyday cars' and more recently 'furniture' have slowed the progress somewhat.....but I will get there....someday....
But here is something that might suprise you, I have NEVER been in a turbo mini....and so mine is going to (hopefully) be a big suprise!

I still haven't seen a turbo mini in real life haven't spoken to an owner, haven't done a test drive, haven't done a threesome yet, oh my mind is wandering now.

arno , get yourself on a ferry , when theres some trackday on , sure one of us will let u have a go in turbo mini.
