After a new battery

Recommendations please.

Usual requirements. Light, small, dry cell, good amp/hour rating.

What’s your choice?

i'v got a varley red top 20 - its very nice, pretty light and very small. tad expensive though.
easily enough for my car, but would be good to know what else it will be powering other than the engine, dizzy/ecu

ok cool thanks, i'm up to tryin anything at this point, otherwise i will have to run either another battery and connect them so they charge 1 by 1 then drain the same way or fit a cap

If you're going down the big sound system route don't waste your money on a capacitor. Do it properly either with a split charge system or a single deep cycle battery and a bigger alternator. Optima Yellow Top is the battery to get.

The cure is a more powerful altenator like a delco or something,
more batteries will have more power untill they go flat because your charging two at the Same rate..
i just went to halfords with a tape measure and bought the biggest that would fit, its like 400 or so cranking amps and was on offer, £55 i think *tongue*

Odyssey batteries are excellent -fully sealed, made to withstand deep cycling repeatedly and they are RED !

I run a 306 TD battery. I get these for £20 new, compared to £65+ in halfords etc.

I used the spare money to buy a new 70amp alternator. Never had any problems so far.

Sounds like a plan to me.

I use something similar to these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hillbilly-AGM-20Amp-...id=p3286.c0.m14

They are gel golf cart batteries, 12V and 20AH like a Red Top race battery but at a fraction of the price.

I was lucky enough to find a local dealer and bought 2 for £50 cash.

May be Vegard.... I always use a jump pack so not to drain any juice on the race car. It has no probs with 8.6!

I'm going to give these a try, when I get to battery buying time. They are supposed to be really good.

It took me a day and a half of starting and stopping to flatten my powervamp battery PV25 I think at the IMM - pretty good i thought although that was on the 11:1 engine

1/2 v shell power max.

1/2 sunoco 119.

costs about 70 pounds for a tank of fuel.

can do about 100 miles on a tank.

car gets used twice a week about. 15 miles in total.
