advance warning sorry about the bad spelling and puntuation ect.


Right where to start. i had been an aprentice for about 6 months when it happend, i had started doing my college work for my aprentiship, but soon after broke my leg. i had the next 2 months off of work as i couldnt walk and had been signed off so wasent insured to work at my dealership. when i got back i tryed my hardest to get back into the swing of things but forgot about my college work.

i panicked and went to my manager at the time and my workshop controller and got some jobcards made up to say i had done the work (i had achually done it before but didnt have the job cards for it). filled it all out got it signed ect. my work got checked up on and another person from my course and they found two jobcards which were fraudulent. i have now been well as far as i know kicked off of the course and i have been suspended from work.

i know i messed up big time and im really pissed off with my self for following the lead and not being brave enough to own up to it sooner and not to have done it.

there are a few people who knew i did this, and who helped me who should have known better, what i want to know is how can i go about letting the BIG MEN know about the people who helped me do it (people who are giving me the dissaplinery).

you can think what you want about me i know i fucked up big time and im really really dissapointed in my self, i know deep down i was better than that but took the, i geuss easy option.

So, are you looking to pass some of the blame to the manager / workshop controller, or wanting to make sure you take it all and not these guys who made a mistake in trying to give you a little time to put things right?

Start there, and lets then discuss....

Surely there is a system where you can argue your case. If you have done the work before and you can prove it then the cards aren't all that fraudulent.

You haven't said you've done anything that you have never done, just not at the time you did it.

You need to find out about the college diciplinary procedure. Probably need to start making some phone calls.

i dont want ti to sound like im spooning the blame off, i know i fucked up but there are people who advised me in doing what i did. i want to make the people who give me my disaplinery aware of this.

as for the jobcards, i had done the work before but it means nothing. the job cards were made to the cars and they didnt have the work carried out on them (fradulent).

i know there is an apeal process and im trying to find out all the information i possibly can about it. but and its a big but, fradulent work with the college is instant dismisal. i know im off the course on that side i just want to make people aware it goes futher than the think it does if that makes sence?

But if the evidence is "fraudulent" cards, ie against the wrong cars at the wrong times, and they have been signed off by your "helpful" (but extremely foolish) line managers, isn't it blatantly obvious to whoever is doing the investigation, that others were involved ???

No good deed goes unpunished. Managers listen to managers you need the levels above you to step in and atleast prove you have done and are capable of doing the work.

there are mitigating circumstances but having forged documents makes it a little hard for opinion to swing in your favour.

IMO The only 'forging done' was the managers signing the cards. Who is to say that you don't prepare these in advance and then get them signed when the work is complete?

they should have realised by now that there more people involved im just going to make the aware of it, i know the likley hood of me keeping the aprentiship is like owning a dodo.

If I were you I would just tell the truth and nothing more. Best course of action IMO.

Im just starting my thirdd year in my apprenticeship mate.

im only in a small business but i all of the work i do obviously has an invoice. The invoices and the like have to be kept for 5 years i believe.

so the work that you done there will be an invoice for them. ask your boss if you could take some time to sit through the invoices and try and find the work that you carried out on the cars. once you have found them you can either photocopy them, or get all of the relevent info from them like the job number etc etc.

then with these you can go to your college and FULLY explain the situation, also do the same with your boss.

if they have any sense then they will see what has been done and more importantly why. IMO they so far have only know half of the situation.

untill you can get proof of the work that you actually carried out, i fear that you dont have a leg to stand on.

as for making sure that the people who signed it are known about, the college wont care but you need to make sure that your boss knows about it.

i can gaurentee this happens in most if not all garages, appreticies struggling for the last few job cards to complete, so they do what youve done or used a job card for a job somebody else has done. you were unlucky you got caught. i personally dont see what youll gain by trying to take other people down with you. the college will know who signed your job cards so if they wanna take it further they can. say sorry tell the truth and keep your fingures crossed.

I was an apprentice for 2 years(only just started full time) and it was the smae for me.
Only in Malta they're really lax so we got away with relatively a lot.
We had to fill in a logbook with our daily work and stuff.
Did invent quite a lot but I was lucky.My foreman knew the score and just signed where I told him to.Thankfully the board who examined our logbooks weren't too hard on us.

well its all finished and over, i found out im getting sacked at about 3pm today, the HR representative seemed against the idea, she was very nice about everything. its a shame my dealer principle is very good friends with my manager. it all came down to loss of trust with the other workers in the garage, the college achually took me back on for how well i had been doing for the work up there but alas i am now jobless.

i know i am moving on forgetting the past it has happend i cant do anything about it. must say im a little anoyed at the fact i could have carried on my apprentichip if fishbrothers let me. never mind. currently job hunting :)

well at least your still at college - would have been a pain if you were out of both

i cant stay at the college as i dont have a placment for work. if i some how find another peugeot dealership close by (which there isnt) then i could carry on but i cant. im out of both.

a big fuck up on my behalf. you deffinatly learn from your mistakes. never had a proper warning before and the first one i get gets me fired.
