Not a bad price I thought........

http://www.minisport.com/acatalog/info_FAM2390AKIT.html

But KAD said that they scrapped all their first batch of these cos they were a direct copy of the original part in alloy and werent strong enough. These look to me like a direct copy.

They can't be a direct copy as they have been modified to take the Metro ? ball joint.

So, someone has worked on the design. Whether they are strong enough - who knows.

Its more the dimensions that I was looking at rather than the balljoints, I would think they should possibly be a bit thicker in places, particularly the 'tube' that the bearing goes in. KAD said their new design was thicker with a smaller OD bearing. Shame theyre not selling them yet

leeds/wakefield.

they state they are made form 7075 alloy, but i have had in my hand one of there alloy drive flanges and i can tell you it was not made from 7075 as far as i could tell, more like 2014,as there are clues in the anodising if you know what you're looking for,

But if you want to take a chance at that price its good value if you do get all that in the kit,

and don't P,M me asking what to look for in the anodising ,i'm not telling, lol.

tbh , the metro balljoints are a good adea but i'm toying with modifying my hubs on the twinnie to spherical bearings in housings as on the Don,

I saw these at the Bingley show. They looked great and certainly weighed a lot less then the steel, but I was sceptical if they were strong enough, especially what we do with the TT.

Scruff, have you heard anything about the KAD ones - when they might sell them?

They did promise me a set to try but keep changing the subject when I ask them - all I did know was that they weren't very good for seriously lowered cars - wrong balljoint angle so we shall see

Much to much of a risk. If a hub fails it could take your car with it.

the Kad ones i have seen had metty ball joints and 3 bolt holes for the steering arm, the minnisport ones i saw wier a direct copy of the kad ones.

i also heard that kad had issues so havent released them yet.

Another great thing with the KAD ones is that they have caliper lugs on both sides. That means that the hubs aren't sided. Cheaper as there is just one casting I guess. Great thinking.

leeds/wakefield.

not forgetting that the thermal expansion of aluminum is far greater than steel , so if a great deal of heat were to build up , the bearing race outer may well loosen,as happens on alloy rear hubs .
Titanium on the other hand has a much smaller thermal expansion , so no such problems,
