Rotherham, South Yorkshire

I see a lot of people quoting times and a lot of them are impressive.

Having never taken a car up the strip, I'm curious as to what you think my car could do.

The Car:

Standard bore low comp (9.4:1) 1275 A+
N/A MG Metro Cam
stage 3 head, benrossed to 28cc giving an overall 8.0:1
suck through SC12 supercharger, running 12ish PSi.
s/c 1:1 drops
s/c JKD box
2.95 CWP, with cross pin diff.
HIF 44 carb
Megajolt
Standard weight Clubman shell
Dave Wiginton baffle tray

My guestimate is about 120 bananas at the fly, but some people reckon I will see more.

The driver:

6' 5"
15 Stone
No driving talent what so ever.

Between 15 and 16 secs would be my estimate based on the times I achieved driving Alex's original Frog with circa 140bhp.

I don't think so. 13 seconds are harder than people think. Low 14's maybe.

Please don't think I'm trying to put anyone down- I'm really not- but with a full weight car and a 2.9:1 FD Matt Woods runs mid-13's with all the power he has. 13 secs really does take some doing.

Agreed, getting into the 13's takes some serious work.

For years many A series (not K head/nos cheats) struggled to reach te magic 13..

My best ever was 13.071, a good few years back, now Nic is in the 12's after alot of developement and weight saving.

Ap.. just over 15
MMM... low/mid 14's

Maybe!!

I guess with 120bhp 14.6 at 98mph is good for 118 bhp then!. Chucked everything i could out of the car to run. So around 620kg.

Im hopeing to run around 14 seconds this year. A few changes to happen if ive got any chance of getting there.

I'm crap, but the car will be going on the rollers a couple of times first. So hopefully it will be OK...

Would be interesting to see what a descent driver could get out of it compared to my piss poor attempt

EDIT: If I ever finish it. Or even make a start...

There is certainly a knack to it. I drove Alex's frog and I think went 3 tenths quicker than he did. Plus I'm a fat cunt so theres hope for the larger gentleman yet!
