If it's an American built car then they must be custom pistons. They are so easy and cheap to get made over there. On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

Raised crown pistons. BMC did that in the 60s on the 998 Cooper I believe, but I've never seen or heard of that on a 1275. Interesting. They do not look raised to me
Could be common flat top pistons with a littlke CNC work on them Edited by Sprocket on 19th Mar, 2009. On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

Diffuclt to say for certain without any being at TDC but, from the lack of carbon on the outer top faces of the pistons (esp. noticable in the second photo, RHS) I would say yes....

F*ck loads of Squish , and probably , detonation and broken pistons Unless the plug positions are moved , head chamber altered , I recon a raised crown like that would tend to cause dead zones in the combustion Edited by carl talbot on 19th Mar, 2009. |
