what kind of 4wd system uses the CRV? Is it a lamell diff that goes in when the front tyres break lose?

Yeah it does - or at least thats how it works on the CRV - not sure if its been modified on the Mini.

i was working on it but the engine+gearbox combo i wanted was just too big (staying a roundy)... *hehe!* but i have a clubby needing a resto and guess what?*happy*

Achim (Ringmini) has used the drive line of a Honda Shuttle 4wd.

This is the build-up section of that car on his site:

This engine is a D16A6, about 110hp.
Turbocharging this engine is not a problem; turbocharging in combination with the 4wd will most likely end up in disaster.

I have been working on a 4wd Clubman estate.
This far I have welded a front subframe however since I have to finish my Van first and the birth of our lovely daughter I think it will remain in the garage for some time.
