at the moment ive got 7.5 inch cooper s brakes which seem to work ok. ive got 13 inch wheels and cant see me changing back to 10s coz i reallly happy with the looks of my mini.

a mate gave me some nos 8.4 inch unvented metty 4 pot calipers a while ago and ive not got around to fitting them yet.

its gonna cost a bout £100 for me to fit them so will i notice a difference in braking performance from the cooper s set up to the 4 pots.

also wots 2x coopers s calipers (good condition), drilled discs, ferrodo fast road pads, and braided pipes worth?

thanks

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Performance wise probably not a lot of difference, however Cooper S brake set ups seem to fetch really good money if you flog them on ebay, esp if you have a set of s/h hubs to make them into a "full set"

yeh they fetch £350 or more for a full kit normaly.

Also in theory atleast you should see a good improvment using the metro setup, it ticks all the right boxes when it comes to brakes (except weight maybe!)

What master cylinder do you use? you will notice a big differance simply because you will have more leverage due to more piston area in the calipers. Not that that improves every aspect but it will make them feel better.

Well Yesterday we went on a bit of a run with a few minis if front of me was a 2000 sports pack and in front of that was Gary. The Mini in front of them stoped rather quick Gary Managed to stop easy enuf with his KAD 4 pots on vented disk but the sports Pack skid and almost crashed. To my amasment with my cooperS brakes and A032 I was able to pull up easy as.

Its not just the dics but the pads you use remember that! I have used all the various types of brake assemblies at one point or other as have most and can firmly say the only time I noticed an appreciable difference in performance was when I changed the spec of brake pad I was useing.

EBC green sfuff, no brake fade no judder and the discs still look fresh.

Green stuff were awful when I tried them, I would not use an EBC pad again.

I have personally used Mintex 1144 and Ferodo DS2500 both with very good results, I would happily buy either again.

I've got MS 4pots - not overly impressed but I'm comparing them to the daily driver which are powerful so maybe not the best camparison;

will be running them with a servo in the new car though so will see if it makes a differance

I run minispares 4 pots on 7.5's with blackstuff pads. They are good. Great performance from cold and when warm they get better, Not managed to overheat them yet.

Whats odd though, on my sprint I had Green stuff with S callipers and they were shit, changed them to alloy 4 pots with Green stuff and they were shit, but my daily drive with S callipers and Green stuff are fantastic.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

I think there are inconsistancies in their manufacture. I have them on the daily drive purely because I was limited with cash when it needed a pad change and I find them fine, obviously others have had issues.

Perhaps I got a bad set of Greenstuff, they had not been out long when I got them. However inconsistancy is not good enough when there are the likes of Mintex and Ferodo out there who will supply a great pad every time.

After trying most pads especially on my Clio. EBC seem to be very varied in quality. Not good for part of a braking system.

Mintex 1144's are good for road 1155's better for track, Then Ferodo DS2500 is better again best of both worlds and a nice compromise between road and track work.

Then Carbone Larraine or Pagid are in another league again. These are Carbon Metallic pads which will eat your discs. And will also on the Clio with plastic wings embed brake dust into them. But are awesome.

Within 3 years of owning this car I've tried them all. And most makes of tyre. Which is good for real world testing but not great for your pocket? LOL.

P.S. Also I don't like drilled disc's I've cracked more pairs than I can remember. Groves are fine but are noisy.

My mini is running 4 pot's on vented discs with Mintex pads all round to start with. Just to see how things go with regards unknown weight of the car and sorting the suspension set-up.

Green stuff definately were shite, however I do believe they have recently changed the recipe that they make them from and are supposed to be considerably better.
I havent tried them though, and probably wont.

I just put some 1144's in the elise and they've made such an improvement
