I am planning a full season in the championship this year.

The first round is this Sunday the 19th at mallory park.

The car was on the rollers today to iron out a few problems and get some running it time done. The new motor is very revvy and strong.

lots of small jobs have been done and I hope to be on the pace up front.

Thanks to Carl Austin for so many little jobs that make so much difference and to Turbophil again, the new head is on and running sweet.

I hope to see some of you as the season unfolds.

JF.

Race report...

OK, a qualifying session was cut very short due to a car going into the kitty litter, I did get out early and get four laps in, my third was a flyer with no hold ups, was delighted to hear I had gained pole position.

Did all my car prep, fuel, plugs, oil and tyres etc pre race. I Tought where I could gain time for the race.

I got a "fair start" but 2nd on grid man got a flying start and got ahead into turn 1, Gerrards.

Tony Howe led for 2 laps with me right on his rear bumper, then his power seamed to drop off and I took him down the main straight.

Knowing I had a very sorted car and driver behind I kept my foot well in during the early part of the race. I must have lead for around 10 laps then we struck a problem, we started to get clutch slip in top over 7000rpm.

I was taking lines to make the car as wide as possible but Bellamy reeled me in and took me due to this lack of top end, the cars are very well matched otherwise.

I stayed right on his heels for around 6 laps using the advantage of his slip stream to take the pressure of the clutch.

The clutch began to get worse and I resided to the fact I would not get past him so nursed the car for a finish, soon Metro ace and veteran Dick Trevvit was on my case, I held him off for a couple of laps but with the worsening clutch he found extra legs on me and took me so I was now in 3rd place.

After 20 mins and 17 litres of fuel the race ended Bellamy taking the laurels, Trevvet then me, fair start to the season.

The car was very strong with the same top end as the best proving Phils head is producing the goods.

I have already had the clutch cover off and found the oil seal was leaking, it was a new item, but the spring that holds the tension had broken, never seen that before but will source a new genuine one ASAP.

Thanks for your kind words of support, they are very valuable.

Sounds like a fair start to the season JF. Shame about the oil seal, sounds like it cost you the win. I will have to get some tickets so silverstone.

Perhaps we could have a TM day out? *tongue*
