My current MOT runs out on friday,i know the rear subframe is knackered, but its still in one piece! so i was planning on going to brighton sunday then getting it MOT'd on monday, only a couple of days out of MOT, thought it would be ok..ish..
Then my mate suggest i take it to his tester, who will be pretty laid back to say the least!
so it was booked in for today, i arrived there, with his mate nowhere to be seen, maybe he will arrive during the test i thought, so this other guy starts testing it, gets to the rear subby and it all goes downhill, cant let that go, blah blah blah, anyway he fails it.!
So whats the situation if i get pulled by the police for driving a car thats failed the MOT?
And whats the situation if i get pulled by the police for having no MOT?
just really pissed off now! spent the past few months getting Megajolt sorted on it and just wanted to get brighton out of the way first.
Looks like i'll be getting the train to brighton now!

cant you get a subby sorted before the weekend?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Tempting as it will be - wouldnt risk it. Your insurance will be void with no MOT so they'll throw the book at you.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

I've got no chance of doing that! plus i reckon all the bolts are going to snap that go into the end of the sill..

bugger, just noticed my current MOT is untill the 17th, which is sunday!
is it now invalid due to the car failing the test?

If you have a valid MOT then you have a valid MOT .
But if the car is unsafe then thats an outher story.

you would have been in a better position not gettig an mot done.

as i understand it the failed mot now invalidates what was left to run on the old one.

if you had got pulled with an expired mot you could have pleaded ignorance and likly been let off on the promise of getting it done, but now if pulled it will almost certainly show up on a check as having just failed and mot, meaning they ( the police) will not be impressed!

also, these modern speed cameras that recognise numberplates could be tied into the mot database, if not now then before long.

2 nd the above , if caught driving on the road with no mot , you will lose the car and have to pay to get it back (if you can get it back , my mate had his car crushed before he could sort it out because the car was over 10 years old ) ...

Don't go slow !!! Go Turbo :))))))

Im with Joe on this one. Because its all computer based now, when you fail the MOT it invalidates any remaining MOT.

In the past you could have got away with it but not its computer based, Im fairly sure its invalid.

yeah, but thats a bit like having a tax disc but the DVLA computer saying your car is untaxed. you will still get prosecuted, and unless you can prove that tax disc is valid you will loose.

sorry but this really isnt the case anymore,

just because you have a document saying somthing it does not mean that it is true, especially if someone else can provide a doument with a later date on it contradicting it.

In the eyes of the law your MOT last at least one year.
Where did you find a contradiction to this?

it seems its a bit of a dodgy situation?
i did see a policeman earlier when i went to the shop, and i asked him his opinion, he seemed to think i could use it untill sunday!
although he didn't really seem to have a clue!!

The contradiction is when the MOT cetrificate says it runs out on sunday but the computer says it was MOT'd 3-4 days prior to the expiry date of the current MOT and Failed.

That is how the new system works, and thats why its now on the system as no MOT.
