So may be of interest to some of you, sorry to those who aren't interested.

About 18 months ago I acquired a 205 GTI 1.6, after a light restoration I bombed about in it all of last year, including a trip to France with the Peugeot Sport Club. Here it is at Reims circuit in France. (Well worth the trip, if anyone is considering it)

Anyhow really as soon as I started using it I knew the engine was fairly tired, having done 140k. With turbocharging obviously being the way forward I set about collecting parts to turbocharge it.
Just as we can use the Metro turbo exhaust manifold as a basis for the A series, Peugeot thoughtfully made a 2.0 turbo engine in various barge saloons, however usefully the stud pattern is the same as the GTI head, bonus.
Anyway to cut a long story short, I got hold of a second hand 1600 engine- I decided to use the 1600 as it is short stroke and a sweeter engine than the 1900- the turbo would make up the torque difference for me.
The engine was fully rebuilt, with undercrown oil jets á la Rizzardini, and cylinder head fettled by the world famous BENROSS. Turbo is a T25 as it has a peculiar flange arrangement specific to the Peugeot manifold. However looking at the compressor map its good for about 18 psi on the 1600 engine.
Carl also helped me with quite a few things, including making me an oil take off adaptor to feed the turbo, and a sexy alloy bottom pulley

Thanks also must go to my mate Phil of brackets fame who modified a Cosworth intercooler for me to squeeze in behind the bumper, and also made me a bracket to support the rad further back.
I also got plenty of use out of my TIG, making most of the air charge and intake pipework, and also I was pleased with the stainless 2.5" downpipe I made.

Although the initial plan was just to turbo the engine, I got a bit carried away modifying the rest of the car, including negative camber front arms, plate LSD, 266mm front brakes, bias pedal box, rear vented discs, and a wide track rear beam with +4mm uprated torsion bars.

So tonight it has been up the road for the first time, I'm running on a DTA ECU, and have set the map near enough for it to drive, but now I need to get some careful miles on it and then take it for mapping. I'm hoping for around the 160banana mark but we will see how it goes.

Hope its of interest to some of you, thanks must go to Carl, Steve BENROSS, and Phil.

this is very nice, its abit of a shame thoes engines dont bolt strait into a 106 *tongue*, i have been curious and looking around on some forums and websits there are a few 1.1 turbos going around, i have always liked the idea for a full sleeper turbo (which the mini wont be).
i like the re-curc dump valve is it for a reason? or just to make it less odv its turbocharged?

Cheers chaps. Recirc dump valve is just to keep it nice and discreet, I put a bit of effort into making sure everything was hidden under the front end, and also cut the tailpipe off a stainless magnex exhaust system to "kind of" copy the tailpipe of the standard system, so it would be no good having a noisy dump valve giving the game away to all the chavs!
Front end without no plate fitted, but if you look hard you can just make out the intercooler.

Nic, I'm sure I got the idea for the oil jets from you, drillings through the block webs, tapped, then fitted with grub screws with a 1.0mm hole drilled in them.
See pics-

Thats a v.nice car. How much do 205's weigh? I'm guessing they are pretty light. So 160bhp should make it pretty sprightly.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

The best modified cars are always the descrete ones. I can't stand blingy body kits and big wheels. It's all about subtlty and power. You've got both of them, so well done.

Nicely done, let us know how it goes the rollers.

Any reason for going for DTA over Emerald? I would have though it's would have been easier to stick to an ECU you know?

It probably weighs about 900-ish kg, so hopefully should go OK, the white 205 is 170-ish at the moment and weighs 840kg and goes pretty well.

Rob I used the DTA simply because it was £300 second hand, when I've bought an Emerald before with all the sensors to go with it, it knocks on the door of £1000. As soon as its been on the rollers I'll let people know how many bananas it managed.
