paul, as another one of your ventures, have you considered re-designing/selling these?

after all, the generic ones are an absolute load of wank.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I hadnt thought about them but now I might.

Was just asking as I need to make some for my Sprint, never realised they were that thick, Id have thought 1.6mm round would do it.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Well round is a damned site better than square, especially when you have to put a kink/bend in it.

I was going to make my own (out of some old roll cage tube) but if you can do some round ones with properly formed bends, I would seriously be interested.

Personally, I think the current ones look gash, I made mine like this:

although can be a pain if you want to pull the shock off.

Personally I would prefer a more conventional mounting, above the damper bracket, but where the inner wing is still double thickness, and just behind the transverse triangular gusset plate.

When I was a lot younger, one of my Minis had a tubular brace bar - just the one, it ran in a single piece from one inner wing, down to and across the front of the subframe, and back to the other wing.

So it not only replaced the inner wing strength but also increased side to side rigidity.

I haven't a clue who made it (it was a long time ago) but that's what I would like to replicate.

Please do if you have some - I'm going from old memory.....

Back in those days there was no such thing as digital photography - 110 cassettes were the most common if I remember right, 35mm was only for the very rich - and the nearest thing to a PC was a ZX80, maybe a ZX81 if you were flush, and a BBC-B for the rich :)

I can't remember how the hinges fitted but I think they were off brackets on the bar, not the subframe.

Seconded. Mine are shit and I have way too many other thibgs to fix before I'll get a chance to get creative with them (and my attempt would look muck compared to anything Paul would make)

MIne bolt onto the side of the cross member under the top mount bracket and curve round and bolt onto the tear drop mount bolt hole.

I was getting the most amount of flex and subframe movement with the standard items avaiable off the shelf.

OK,

The one I used to have was similar - tubular steel curved in that shape - but mounted above the damper plate and ran across the front of the subframe too, ie, it was a single bar from one side to the other.

I think I'm going to fabricate my own from memory !!!

The minispares/sport one s are a good solution if you run a side rad. If not there are better solutions as shown above.

I use the Mini speed side mounted ally rad which is much deeper than the 4 core I originaly had fitted, so they work with side rads too.

What size tube Mr Joshua ???

I was thinking of 38mm (1 1/2"), 2mm wall but I see you have additional gusset plates in the bottom curve.

PS, sorry for the thread hijack Paul.....
