after missing out on iains internal linkage i'm thinking about making my own.

its not breaking them thats the problem, its having accurate movement that is.

Socket UJ's are not true UJ's as the pivot centers are offset causing non uniform drive transmission, and are susceptable to unwanted lateral movement.

Got A GTM With A Honda In the Back, and huge Nitrous bottle where the passenger seat should be when racing!

whats the diameter of the shaft? just looking other places for UJ's (hoping to be cheaper than nic's place) and there obviously listing quite a few OD's and if i weld the UJ in i want a matching size David. |

just because its snap on doenst mean its any better than the rest, all it means is its good for the job it was designed for, i.e. not changing gears! lol!

those are what i used too, i found them on ebay as 'helicopter joint' slightly cheaper than DT "Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun"

KAD sell some decent UJ's for just under £40 each. seem cheaper then the demon tweeks ones.

The ones on that site as with all the other sites that sell these joints are unfortunatly nothing more than generic machine drive UJs.

Selector shaft is 1/2" IIRC and steering column universal joints will definately be upto the job! They're about 2" wide FFS and designed to withstand wear otherwise every new car would fail the MOT on column play.. |
