Well I revived my mini intrests about 3 years ago (after a morgage , wife, son and a couple of buisneses you now the story LIFE lol) It started of as an advertisment and a delivery van for my shop and then the MINI BUG got me again. well in for a penny in for a pound or so they say.*oh well*
It started of with a 1275 MG metro engine with a Hif 44.

So you have a fuel pump and regulator on a n/a car. Now wonder you had issues!

Van looks nice though

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Ive finnally worked out how to load pics.
These carbs were a big improvement on the single 1" 3/4 carb. But as you all now all we want to do is go faster.

Then I decided to go for a turbo..
I found one for £200 with an extra £60 for the Metro Turbo 4 pot brake set up with drive shafts. It wasant the best looking engine with a home made delorto set up it also turned out to be a 1380 with omega pistons.

ugley I now.. Then a few months past collecting bits thats needed. 2 core rad oil cooler, fuel reg , gaz coil overs , mini fines groved and dimpled discs with rebuild kit for the 4 pots and so my collection was growing , hoping the wife wouldent bump in to the post man LOL.
And then one night after 2 botles of red wine I was looking on ebay when I saw a MED 1293 FSI engin running an Eaton45 super charger as a blow throu in sted of a suck throu. It looked diferant than all the others ide seen so with out a thought for what I was doing Ide done the deal for £2500.. Belive me its one of the worst hangovers Ive ever woken up with, then it took over 3 weeks to be deliverd. I really thought Ide been had over. then I turned up so I hade to work out I could do an engine swap with out the wife nowing what I was up to. Just as I thought I had done the job here 14 year old brother had been on Ebay and seen my feedback, BUSTED he couldent wait to drop me in it B*****D. I just denied it all (she nows thou dont they always)

Interesting turbo setup.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Out with the old and in with the new.

Ok after a week of really late nights working from 6pm till 2am ish we got it fited. It took another couple of nights to get it started the turbo carb kept flooding, we got it going and took it down the road and oh my god it went like a rocket for a few seconds and then died on me. Back to the carb again we tryed everything but no joy,
Then I put another carb on. no joy couldent get it to start when it was all piped up. So I ran it with out the pipes on just blowing in to the engine bay. Sounded great everyone on the street looked I mean everyone. We tryed over the next 6 weeks a night here and a night there no joy.
so I decided to take it to mini sport, I had them all scratching there heads in the end I was told to take a more direct rout with the pipe work . Rod told me there was too meanny bends in the pipe work so of I went to put it right.

Ok job done back to mini sport with a big smile on my face...
Just the same as before so I asked Rob just to set it up as a normal engine.

I fitted a set of Gaz coil overs from jon speed

The rear ones were perfect just how I thought they were going to be.
The front ones well I thought the van was going to fall to pices , every little bump in the road I lost another filling in my teeth it was nasty. I tryed alsorts of hights but it was the same. I got in touch with Jin speed and they said theyed had a bad batch of brackets made so they sent me some new ones. I finally took the old brackets off after about 500 miles . look at the state of the coil overs.

Ive ended up seam welding the whole frount subframe and cutting away the towers were the donuts should be.

Ive not tryed mine yet but thers pleanty of play now with no bottoming out. My mates done the same to his with no problems the only differance is he running on 10" and Im on 13" wheels
so I think weve sorted that little problem.

Is that a throttle body with an actuator on it? took me ages to figure out what the hell it was and what it did. Definitely is different, good luck

Well as you can see we made the two new bits after fitting the carb to the supercharger I decided to go for a burger in the van as the other carb was still conected OH MY GOD the noise from the air been sucked throu the new carb was defaning it sounded like a jet plane on take off, a really high pitch whistle . So that idea was another one for the scrap heap.. back to the drawining board again.. Oh the life of a mini owner some times I wish Ide just stuck with the standard set up NO NOT REALLY...
