hi guys. im looking for a 5 or 6 speed straight cut gearbox if possible. an condition considered. thort this was the best place to try out. let me know wat you have!!!!!!!

Unless you like rebuilding them lots don't bother! I suppose if you have a std ERA then you'll be okay. I sold my rebuilt 10yr old JKD 5 spd for £1100 on the bay a few years ago!

i want 1 for my metro turbo. it just seems lyk when im cruzing around in 4th that its flat out. probably doesnt help that the exhaust is so loud. just fancy a 5 or 6 speed. fink it would make the car alot more fun to drive 8-)

still having to change fd to bring 4th to 1:1, and 5th as on overdrive?

I know someone with a freshly rebuilt one for sale if you're interested. think he's looking for £1200

Not to barge in, but this may be of help to ANT. What's the reason that the 5 and 6 speed boxes have to be rebuilt so often? I'm assuming that it's because people are speed shifting and beating the shit out of them, but I may be wrong. If you drive it like it cost you a few grand, rather than like a boy racer I don't see why it wouldn't do just as well as the 4 speed box...?

The main reason to have more gears is to attain a higher top speed.

There is a guy stateside who has an un-used JK 5speed ...

i just want it as sort of an over drive really. also think it would just finish my car off.

just fit a long diff (2.9 or 2.7) mate, there are guys running long diffs on here and able to get up to 150 mph, you need a stupid amount of power to go that fast so i doubt you will be able to go faster.
a new final drive is 100quid at the most (including the gaskets) if you can fit it your self so the 2grand you save can be spent on power to get you to these speeds

if that is not enough you can get higher ratio drop gears aswell,

I have SC gearbox with a 2.95 final drive (thanks to paul wiginton :) ) and according to my calculations i should get a top speed of 130 mph, which in a mini fookin flying, just need wings lol.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

The spell police is usualy Vegard, however, most of us cant spell for shit, that is not the point.

Text speak is fine when its a text on a phone, but when you have a full English QWERTY keyboard right infront of you, with full and simple access why not use it? Text speak is not cool, nor clever and irritates the frick out of everyone. Its not just you its everyone that has or will use text speak on this forum, and I think you will find, most of the other forums too. Dont feel hard done by, you are not, will not be on your own.
