Not a lot, Carl's made me a custom swirl pot from what looks like a couple of aluminum sauce pans, so I'm guessing it'll be take aways in the Austin household from now on:

iirc you normally have a low pressure pump that feeds the pot, then a hibressure pump between the pot and carb.

obviously both pumps need a return.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

nearly, bottom is the feed to the HP pump, the 2nd highest is the feed to the tank from the LP pump, the top thats not red, the return from the FPR and the red, looks like a one way breather, probably back to tank to prevent over pressure.

might be wrong but its the way i understand it

Is a swirl pot just a pot? Is there anything else inside it? Vanes etc?

I thought it acted more like a reservoir...so theres a constant fuel for the second pump pickup?

Aren't they to help prevent fuel starvation on long pulls or extreme cornering?

but,............
if your float bowl can only hold X amount of fuel then how does this help?

At combe the other week i had a massive fuel surge when i was flat out at 12psi,
looked into getting a float ectension but the pickup tube is still only the same height.

The Metro carbs have alot of mods...to be frank, I haven't a clue how they work...but they do. Never get fuel surge. JF is problably a better person to explain this.

Surely this isn't being connected to a carb?

Flat out at 12psi dosen't really describe fuel surge, rather fuel starvation. hat is to say to cure this you need a pump that pumps more fuel per minute.

I had the same problem. You need 1 litre a minute (minimum). worth checking your pump me thinks.

as wil says check the pump,

also look for any possible resrictions, for example the float valve, I know there is a high flow version of this.

also, generally the mini tank is tall enough to not get starvation problems until its pretty empty, unless you have twin tanks, doh!

but the van tank, being long and flat is likly to be a different matter. obviously this also affects racing tanks that are long and flat.

Decided that it weighed too much, so I got out my hole punch, I reckon Carl could learn a thing or two about weight saving:
