Wouldnt go with that ally pipe stuff. its worse.

nothing is brilliant other than sorting some silicon hose and either alloy or stainless tubing.

At present we are trying to resource the replacement uncrushable hose that Rover sold, The original air hose is of simular quiliuty to the stuff we now sell, unfortunately Rover have nil stocks and no longer use the original manufacturer ( due to the BMW Management )even our contacts with Heritage are drawing a blank but we are on the case. Sorry to hear you are not satisfied with the quality.

i've got a engine steady running right in front of the air inlet so i got no choice i have to use the avonbar one fair play you can bend it any way with out restrictions, shame its just so un-durable. i felt a bit bad saying it was crap after some one from avonbar is on here lol ! i didnt realise !!!!!! i posted it so that others can make decisions, the avonbar one is great if space is restriced its really flexable and does not restrict air flow when bent, but holes really easy, the ally stuff is cheaper but doesnt flex quite as good and dents very easy, best is silicone but you need lots of space as you cant twist it where you like. can i ask what have you guys done to secure the pipe to the air inlet , zip tie ot just pushed it on ???

grey pride you got me worried now i didnt think !
that wire could just spring into the turbine, im gonna try and slip the wire coil over the turbo and not just the cloth part.

Sumpnut thats what we're trying to source. It's the best stuff but not made anymore....Or so it seems.
Right.....We buy the current stuff in 4 meter lenghts and cut it down. Thats why the coil can sometimes 'pop out'. The best thing to do is fold a bit of the material inside and bond it with super glue making sure you sandwich some of the coil aswell. Then put the whole lot over the compressor inlet and secure with a jubilee clip.
The best thing to use as you guys know is silicone hose, It's not easy to use and not forgetting expensive.
Like we said befor it's all we can get at this time and it's better than no hose at all!!

Thanks for your input

i folded it but wasnt really keen on the string floating around near the turbo either,

mine went wrong when the original end (the end you cut) ripped through the orange material. Prehaps you should "fold a bit of the material inside and bond it with super glue making sure you sandwich some of the coil aswell"

i dont mean to sound a moron but its an expensive item and when it fails before you even get the car running

err i also found it could do with being a little bit longer.....

My orange house now has a complete covering in Black insulation tape due to the number of holes just from taking it on and off a couple of times !!

ALSO .....

I also found it to be about 6 inches to short as well !!!

In the end I had to cut mine in half as the holes got so bad ; so now my AirFilter is just in front of the windscreen wiper motor ; which Is poo methinks !!

Thats just my bit !

Ok........Found some really good stuff. I contacted NASA and they can sell me some titanium coated ducting for ?300 a meter. How does that sound.

Only Joking. But we now can get some ducting that is twice as thick and the coil is enclosed in the material. It's really thick and tough and still bends fine. One problem....It comes in 63mm or 57mm only. Needs to be 59mm.

I'd say this was a victory for the forum.....It bought forward a problem that was solved.Kinda.

Merlin do some top stuff, i have had one of there pipes on my car for about 5 years, now that is tried and tested!!

They do orange, silver and blue now.

The secret is to make enough space for the pipe to run between the engine and the bulk head.

look under PRODUCTS then AIR DUCTING.
