A lovely little engine destined for Oz next week - should make it stand out a bit.

Great result buddy, love the info overlay on the vid.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Gr4h4m - well spotted -that fan belt is tensioned correctly as well- the interesting thing - well for me - was the way the reasonance of thebelt moved from the "front" run to the "back" run and then back again between 6000/6500/7000/7500. you see all sorts of things on an engine dyno rather than on the rollers where everything is flapping about!

Great stuff!

So do you think there is much more to come from the K head in NA format John?

That is under load Carl - post mapping looking at the torque outputs, after each increment we ran back to 3500 to make sure the load from the dyno didn't stop the engine due to weeny (comparative) torque down at those revs.

Joe - yes the exhaust was the first step and made good gains from 6k up on the road manifold. Timing was against us on testing our new direct to head billet throttle bodies - 40mm shaftless design - circa 20/25% more throttle area than the 38mm RS items - I have another Sprint engine to go on soon - hopefully we can test these ITB's then. If the results are as good as hoped then the next step is big valves - we've secured a good source at a price which won't cripple - so yes a good chunk to go yet! This engine hadn't turned over on power at 8500rpm so for the next stage we'll need to run to 9000+ to find peak power.

Robert - yes its getting close to the edge up there!

Gunny - this engine spec is all about 5k+ for power - down to cams and porting in this engine. We've dynoed enough 1380's now to know that you can have 110ish lb/ft of torque as a peak, its position dependant on cam specs - this one as per all Sprint cammed engines generates peak torque around 6k, but still has 80 lb/ft down at 3k so is driveable with a 1050rpm idle - not bad for an honest 118 bhp/litre A series!
