I agree! If I can make it into work in a mini, the lazy fuckers with 4x4's should have not problem! I turned up to work on Friday to an empty carpark. In the 13's at last!.. Just |

I've just driven my usual 38 miles to work up the 'snowy' roads of yorkshire. Not once have I lost grip. Got pissed of a few times about the people who blatently can't drive in snow.

I think we are yet again selling ourselves short. Why is everybody so negative in this country and happy to jump on the 'Britain is crap' band wagon. We are no different to other countries.

You have to remember most people don't give a hoot about driving, or that there are different styles of driving to suit the conditions. Many just see the car as an easy way to get too and from work. some driving is bad enough in the dry let alone snow, |

In all fairness Ben, we've had -1 degrees C and a 3 or 4" of snow. Europe has been hit far worse than us.

I don't see why we should expect that millions is spent on equipment to clear the roads when we generally only get snow for a few days a year.

I think it's far more silly to go to work on snowy roads without the decent tyres than to stay at home. I would NEVER have a drive on snow on summer tyres. Oh, if I did I'd loose my license. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

I had to laugh when I saw an M3 CSL in York on Saturday. The tyres he had on aren't even suitable for the wet, never mind snow.

I found myself getting very irritated at some tit on our lass's street revving the tits off his car spinning wheels up and down street trying to park. All he was doing was flattening the snow making it slippier for other folk.

How many of you have spent money on smow chains? no point is there? What I am getting at is that it would seem that most people are too lazzy to get off their arse and shovel the snow off the paths and roads infront of thier house. Then there is the lack of grit bins for you, the general public to throw a little grit on the roads. We live right next to one of the Highways Agency depots. The A56 is clear of snow and ice and always will be, but the roads on our estate are thick with ice. A grit bin and a little effort of those who live on the estate make all the difference. Leaving it be because its some one elses job 'I pay my tax' sort of thing is a lame excuse to have a jolly at home because you cannot drive the car up the hill as the road is frozen over. That does not cost much at all. The council keep giving us all more bins to put rubbish in, how much would two or three grit bins cost for an estate of 100 houses? If everyone did that little bit, it wouldnt be half as bad. Granted not everyone is going to buy snow chains, but I recon more will be thinking about it in the next few years. My natural colour is blue and only since I have been living in the North West have I matured to a colour resembling normal lol, I don't mind the cold one little bit. We used to get the sledge out every year. was great fun On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

We have a grit bin outside the front of our house. It was put there last week and was empty within hours. I think it is there for the side street that doesn't get gritted.
