These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Rotherham, South Yorkshire

Also, you are enginejohn on TMF and had started posting yesterday as enginejohn on here. Either that or you both have a lot of identical parts for sale.

I'm guessing vale speed minis???

OK, usual etiquette is to introduce yourself before advertising stuff for sale.
We get a lot of tossers who just use us for flogging their shit and to rip us off.

That's because it's a standard CAM4810 998 head casting.

I've got lots of them and there are also lots on ebay. Good for holding doors open.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Learn something every day :)

I though those were more like batch numbers where the J would be the month.

Well, I've just checked through 5 998 heads all CAM4810 as the one in the link, but none have that J5181 number.

It did get me wondering if a bit of CNC magic could mill them out to the same as a modified 12G295 *oh well*

I was thinking the same. It is one of those things that springs up in racing circles when one car is faster than the others. It would be interesting to get them on a flow bench. But then why bother as even the 'J' is shit unless you have to use them.

they are diff shape at valve guide boss less metal better flow . and give bettwen 3and 8 bhp more dep on set up . they are used in classea were heads have to be standard no porting cnc metal taken away . and for the bhp xtra it is worthing bothering with . kal

I have a brand new "j" casting head complete. The details given about these heads is true, there is less metal around the valve guide bosses this aids flow through the ports. Class 1 grassers love these, the gain is relatively small, but when racing in a std class it all helps! If you want it let me know. Steve.

So 3 to 8 bbhp is maybe a bit optermistic? With a skimmed 295 I wouldn't expect 8bhp gains.

Maybe 1 or 2 bhp at best.
