We're all doomed.

So what are your plans for this one.

Stephen Hawking - "The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge."

£250 with a good rear subframe and suspension.
Without the rear subframe we agreed £150 but I took the subframe anyway.

Luckily he was local so delivered it all on a trailer included in the price,

Sometimes you get lucky....

Best bit was ............

No I'll say later *happy*

It came with an ultra rare piglet air freshener which you sold on eBay for £1k?

Sorry, I've gone totally nuts, been trying to get my head round some massively complex programmes at work and as a result my brain has melted.

No..... it's a rolling shell so nothing under the bonnet yet.....

And it's nothing physical or monetary, the "best bit" was something his Mum said to me as he was reversing the trailer down my drive so he probably won't even know himself.....

Dropped myself into that one, I should know this forum better by now !!!

Anyway, I decided to get the subframes off in daylight to get the shell up onto my "trolley" (same one as I used before) and this morning it pissed down with rain, lunchtime was a hailstorm so earlier this afternoon in a short sunny spell I tried again and found this rather unique way of getting over the problems of a rubber mounted front subframe.....

I've never seen that before ...... the welds look quite old so I'm not sure how many owners previous.

Then when I went to get the angle grinder out, it snowed on me.

I've rescued ultra rare pink piggy from the weather so he/she will be on eBay shortly :)

That's a new one on me, reminds me of my mates Beetle where the previous owner welded the shell to the floor pan. Have fun with the angle grinder.

Not really, I told Aiden (who has registered as minimad01) that I post on TM and obviously showed him all the other bits of the fuel injected one I've nearly finished so I assumed he would look us up.

Whoever guesses first what his Mum said gets the pink pig air freshener apparently worth £1k on eBay. (I'll even pay the postage).

The only clue you all get is I saw the trailer Aiden was intending to use a few days earlier - large enough for a bus or a small lorry - and told him there was no way to reverse it down my drive from the direction he would be approaching my village as my drive is 45 degrees the wrong way and the road outside is very narrow....

So when he only took one additional pull forwards to achieve 135 degrees backwards in complete darkness (no street lights in my village) I said to his Mum words to the effect of " that's good, I wouldn't have even attempted that in daylight" and her answer was .................................

Is it getting a plastic front? If so your welded on frame problems are very easy to sort out...

You spoilt it Aiden. What she said was "not bad considering he hasn't passed his test yet"

My fault - having already seen the work you had done on the other Mini which was to every bit a high standard as the ones on TM, I had assumed you were already driving. I assumed the reason you were coming with someone else was because of the country lanes and darkness.

So when you put that rather large trailer down my drive in the dark and then your Mum explained why she was there, it did "amuse" me.

But if you keep up the high standard of work I saw on your other Mini, you'll have no problems in a year's time.

But no-one gets the pig now.......

Well despite the weather I spent 3 hours lying on a bit of carpet on the frozen ground amongst the frozen snow (included on second photo just for effect) and got the rear subframe off.

It's in very good condition just as I was hoping from what little I could see of it when I looked at the shell last weekend apart from one classic problem....

Someone in the past has tied a rope around it to tow something and distorted the back rail.

Luckily as it's rust free, that will straighten out easily.
