And coversills are on what, 20% of all minis, so they can't be all bad can they...

Hum, I'm actually going to be fitting a CF roof over the steel roof on my clubby, regs say I have to keep the steel roof which is sadly both warped & dented.

i think it comes to whats right. oversills are accepted but not necessarly correct it term of fixing things.

2 roofs now thars a different ball game, do it properly or get a cage if u ask me

my last car had oversills was bit pissed. if it had an overroof i'd hit the roof :)

no where, its common that there used to fix sills hence my old car had them and i think the comment above that about 20% of minis have them shows this to a degree

and personally i dont like them as i consider them a bodge but there are those who consider them ok. down to the individual i guess

I can't see how an 'over skin' roof could ever look right, it would make the car a few mm taller and change the shape and dimensions of the roof.

As for over sills - they just hide the rust and leave it there to continue eating away at your car.

Well said, defiantly a bodge in my eyes, maybe not as bad as over sills as rusty roofs are far less common as fooked sills, i think if u cant afford/be assed to fix a problem properly you don't deserve to own a classic car.

I seem to remember a few on here stating that if they didn't cut quite alot of the roof away and only leave a small lip then the skin doesn't sit right at the edges anyway.

I don't see how this can look right when its done this way.

It wouldnt fit for one! I found i had to tap the lip of my old roof down slightly.
