Did you know that Nitro-Methane can make 2.3 times the power of petrol?

So, in theory, you could get 500hp from a 1293 Turbo! Not that you could put it through a Mini transmission.

Now that would be a challenge. ( you see what doing without TM for two days has done *happy* )

I'd love to see what a nitro methane A series would do.

how much is it?
i once heard of a turbo 998cc running on 90% methanol at 25 psi or something silly, the engine seized and the piston's melted in the bores,
but whilst it was running it went really well,
lol,
that was about 6 years ago now i guess,

yes this is bad stuff. been around the pits at drag racing, and a small amount of this stuff went into a tread or a bolt hole, when the bolt was put in the tightend up BAND it went braking the block and really herting the guy that was doing it. all this from the smallest of amounts, it's not to be palyed around with lol. good idea though paul. One that i dimisted years ago lol.

Dad remember Johns RC Nitro car? That was fast and it only had a little engine... it would be tooo fast for an a series engine.

But if you plan on getting some tell me when and I'll see to it that I'm outa the country still!

That's true, you can get fuel for model cars with up to 30% Nitro-Methane over the counter at model shops.

Dealing with the stuff the dragsters use can be tricky.

Anyway, I've found two firms locally that will build a chassis and MED do a billet in-line crank, just need to sort the transmission.............. *Yes*

I ran radio controlled cars fairly competitively for a few years. I have 16% and 25% lying around in the garage. It is scary when it burns as it's a white to clear flame *surprised*

Just out of interest, would aviation fuel offer any benefits over 98 ron petrol or not? For example the stuff used in light aircraft.

a lot of the lads over here use avgas, we can get it cheap (cheaper than pump gas) and whether we imagine it or not, it does seem to help!

We had some avgas left over that we needed to get rid of, so we chucked it in me old mans micra (waste I know) but it went like fuck...normally run on the cheapy tesco's stuff tho so probs not suprising it made a difference.

IIRC, isn't avgas 101 octane?
