I have a clarke one, about the same price as the SIP one. Still works after a couple of years abuse, even though I melted a big hole through the front lense cover.

A decent helmet makes a big difference to how quick and how well a beginner can learn to weld. I use a £400 Speedglass (actually I have 2 of them) but thats just unnecessary really, a perfectly good one can be had for £80ish.
I seriously doubt it! |

A year or so ago, Mini Magazine did a review of Mig helmets. This is the one they recommended: Other mags have also found it the best. I had one last christmas and have been very pleased with it. Much better than the cheap ebay ones. Fair enough but for just a little more for the sealey one you'll get a 10x faster response, light to dark. You only have one pair of eyes

Auto darkening anytime Mark and if it's battery powered, go for auto shut off after 30 min.
Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Does anybody have experience of these helmets or the manufacturer? The specification seems good, and it has some useful functions.

i bought a siegen one from eurocarparts, was £68 and i WAS very pleased with it, its very light comparable to some much more expensive ones, bit flimsy. and worked well for 13 months. now it doesn't darken anymore, and its just out of warrenty! im gunna see if it will come apart, hopefully a connection has just broken that i can fix. if not i might get the sealey one.
