As it says really - I'm changing the discs and I can't get the drivers-side nut off.
Tried using the search - I guess no-one else has had this problem!
Is this my excuse to buy a compressor and impact wrench, or do I just need a longer graunch bar?
Any suggestions welcome!

longer bar, wd 40,

tru undoing it with the wheel on and on the ground, you want a 3ft bar, baybe with a tube over it to make it longer,

if it still wont budge slit it off with a hack saw blade

Graham.

You wuss, just get a 5 ft scaffold pole on a decent breaker bar, put the wheel & tyre back on the ground with the centre cap out, get yer misses to apply the footbrake and 'crack it off', as they say.

Good luck buddy.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Are you sure? I thought that the hub nuts were right & left handed, although there's a nagging little voice at the back of my head that says I got it the wrong way round.

I should be so lucky *happy*

Split pin out, steering wheel in the right place (last time I checked!), and I should say I've got a 'Y' tool thats retained by the wheel nuts on the studs which 'digs' into the ground, so don't need to put the wheel on/stand on the brakes.
As for being a wuss - yeah you're probably right *happy*, but I was lifting the front of the car from the axle stands when I tried starting at the 3 o-clock position, rather than the 9 o-clock.
I'll soak the nut in WD40 as advised and let it soak in over the weekend while I work on a car thats already in bits!
I'll try the bloody great graunch bar/heat as well!
Thanks all *Yes*

Rob - the passenger side (LEFT *wink* ) is definitely a right hand thread (anti-clockwise to remove) - this would be left hand thread if it was to self tighten, wouldn't it?
I know the trucks at work are handed but I'm sure the mini's aren't, so as chinlesswonder says.

ETA Thanks Oli - might take you up on that after the weekend.

In the garage......again!!

treat them both as normal nuts, looking directly at them its anticlockwise to undo.

They are not lefthand thread as some people seem to think.

amateurs. 4mm drill bit straight down the low parts (where the spit pin would sit) 180 degrees apart. Then one swift blow with a cold chizel .. obv this requires a new nut, mine used to always weld themselfs on :(

Butcher, lol. Use a 3/4" drive 4ft breaker bar with the car on the ground wheel chocked and the wifie pressing for all her might on the brake *hehe!*, works for me everytime. On the other hand, I have had some front hub nuts you can wind off by hand after removing the split pin, some one elses bad job.

I have the same as the argos one and I have been surprised how good it actually is. I only paid around £12 for it a couple of years ago, and it has been worth it weight in gold.
