cost of sandblasting?

Ive been quoted £145 + vat to sandblast a front and rear subframe, it might be me being a tight arse but that seems a tad expensive!

Whats a reasonable price to pay?

Bloody hell that is expensive.

I got my front, rear and rad cowl sandblasted and powdercoated for £40 a few years ago, if you find a big company that do gates and things try and do it cash in hand and say your in no rush :)

Just spoke to a guy local to me who is also into mini`s , he said he could do them for 40 quid each max .
he is in southend on sea , essex though so might not be any good to you .

for that money you better buy a sanblaster yourself if you have a good compressor

Last year I was quoted £40 for a front subframe locally and he said it was expensive because I only wanted one doing (most of his time would be getting ready and clearing up) and I thought that was too high so I wire brushed it.....

I just had my subframes blasted and coated in Epoxy for 35 euros each. Took my Pick Up 'shell there the other day: blasting and a coat of weld primer was 380 euros for the whole car, so I agree that GBP 145 for just to frames is a bit steep...

have you tried Oxford Industrial Finishing or Witney Powder Coating. ive heard OIF are good, i had work done at witney powder coating years ago, but dont have a clue how much they charged

I wouldn't pay that even if they were powdercoating as well!

I got mine blasted and power coated by for 60 euros (40£) at this year conversion rate.

You should find an industrial enterprise which do metal blasting powder coating for closing grills, they could do it for the price of a whisky bottle

I had £60-£80 in my head, and looks like I was about right! For that price I could buy a sandblaster. Ive just manged to whip both subbys off (2 hours flat ), the rear may be slightly worse for wear!

Longy - I haven't tried tht place yet, im going to give them a call tomorrow though.

So in general does everyone get them powder coated? I thought powder coating chips really easily?

Ive had quite a few frames powdercoated lately and they look amazing.

Just make sure you panelbeat the frame prior because the powdercoating really brings out all the dents and bent edges.

matty theirs a sand blaster in stanbridge i got my front subframe and 4 wheels done by him for £40 i believe this is about 20 minutes away from you if you want directions give me a pm as i dont know his company name off hand

i had 2 front subbys, 4 hubs, 4 top arms and two mk2 golf strut braces all sandblasted, some other anti rust shit and powder coated gloss black all for 60 quid.

I paid £90 for front and rear blasted and coated. But wouldnt recomend the powdercoating its a pain in the arse, chips like crazy, water gets under then it all flakes. 2pack is definately the way to go.

I forget how much i paid but i got mine blasted and galvanised at a local place (think about £150) then painted them myself this way they wont go rusty again!!

both my past mini and the current one, had their sub's blasted/power coated, the current one have as new 1972 subs since the coating 5 years ago..
all's in the powder coating,
professionaly done it'll last , amateur and then you know,
look around you, metal closure grills, metal portals does they ships really easily?
